Big thanks to Criteo for hosting me at the UK Commerce Media Summit today 🛒 where we got some great insights from ASOS.com, Currys plc, AS Watson, Colgate-Palmolive, IAB and more into how brands and retailers are building and scaling their #retailmedia propositions, the challenges with getting those models right and best practice on how to tap into the mindset of the polarized customer. 🧠 Customers are unpredictable and unconventional. To do this well, you have to enter with an open mind to connect with the complex, irrational consumer. ➕ It’s “a means to an end” and has got to be additional and incremental to the shopper journey, not disruptive to the experience. ⚖️ Measurement standards still have a way to go to catch up with other media - a common language and currency is key. But it’s a bit “like herding cats”. 🧪 Be willing to learn fast and fail fast. That requires an always-on mentality for testing and developing to scale and be successful. Having built both the UK & Regional Europe Marketing, Digital & Sponsorship teams for Getir in 2021 & 2022, it’s sad to see them making such huge cuts now and completely withdrawing from markets that were once booming. It’s a sad acknowledgment of the over hiring many businesses partook in during those years, (especially in the ecommerce channel or for D2C or Qcommerce brands) and the short-sighted strategic planning based on temporary consumer behaviour, which we are now seeing the repercussions of post-pandemic. https://lnkd.in/efeixDfY

I have been listening to Mo Gawdat's conversation with Steven Bartlett on #DiaryOfaCEO podcast. What a conversation! So much food for thought. I really loved the challenge Mo gives to Steven about reducing his engagements and asking him what he would do if he only chose to do what had real meaning and value to him. Discussions about value are central to coaching conversations. What are our personal values, truly? The ones that we hold in our hearts, not just in our minds. What inspires us? And how do we attribute value, most importantly, how do we attribute value to ourselves? Not value that is deemed significant by others, by social norms, other people's measures but our own? I love helping my clients consider these big questions and I listen with humility to their reflections and discoveries. #coaching #values
