Calico: - Like a calico cat - colorful, playful, and a bit quirky. - "Hey, I'll just randomly assign some IP addresses and hope for the best!" - "Networking? Meh, I'll just wing it!" Cilium: - Like a ninja - stealthy, precise, and deadly efficient. - "I'll sneak up on those packets and route them with ease!" - "Networking? Child's play. I'm a ninja, hear me roar!" Of course, this comparison is all in good fun, and both Calico and Cilium are powerful tools in their own right. Calico is known for its flexibility and ease of use, while Cilium is renowned for its performance and security features. At a recent LSEG (London Stock Exchange Group) event, one of my co-panelists, Sonu Chopra-Khullar mentioned the potential of using embeddings outside of processing language. And I came across a paper that does just that! Robert Richmond and co-authors (Xavier Gabaix, Ralph Koijen, Motohiro Yogo - all heavy hitters) develop an Asset2Vec embeddings for financial assets based on investor holdings. This is a neat way to decide if company A is (or is not) similar to company B. Its got uses ranging from predicting asset returns for systematic strategies to portfolio stress testing. Sbi Securities (Market Outlook for May Series - Roll-Over Snippets) Dear All, April Series clearly exhibited outperformance of Mid-caps & Small-Caps over Large-Caps, & we expect the individual stock specific action to continue going into the May Series, too. This was clearly visible as while Nifty traded almost with a flat bias, the market breadth within derivative segment was stronger with 69% single stock futures rising in April Series as compared to 46% advancing shares in March Series. Roll-Overs for the Nifty futures have been 65.12%, significantly lower compared to the previous month's 69.77% and the 3 month average of 71.40%. The most likely reason for the lower roll-overs/positioning could be the expectations of volatility ahead of the ongoing general elections. Also, the roll cost has declined to 0.31%, which is lower compared to the 3-Month average of 0.72%. Comparing with the previous trends during the past election years of 2009, 2014 & 2019, the Current Roll-over is lower then the rolls in April 2009 & 2019 where 74% & 81% roll-over of positions were witnessed. April 2019 Series, however, saw Nifty rolling over lesser positions to the tune of 59%. The long-short ratio based on FII index positions currently stands at 38.90% Tracking Seasonality, Over the past 17 years, May month has often exhibited a bullish trend for Nifty & Bank Nifty on majority of the occasions. Particularly striking is the trend observed during the previous 3 election years for May, where Nifty has recorded an impressive average return of 11% while Bank Nifty has witnessed a remarkable average return of 21.42% for the past 3 election years. Average volatility in May Series for Nifty in the past 17 years has been 8.7% while that for Bank Nifty would be 13%. Talking about Nifty levels, 22630-22650 zone will act as crucial resistance for the index. Any sustainable move above 22650 will lead to sharp upside rally upto 22880, followed by 23050 in the short term. While, on the downside, the 50-day SMA zone of 22200-22250 is likely to provide the cushion in case of any immediate decline. Any sustainable move below the level of 22200 will lead to profit booking in index upto 21940-21850 Sectors such as PSU Banks, Metal, CPSE, Chemicals, Consumer Durables and Auto are expected to outperform in the May Series while IT & Media could act as laggards. Some great collation of stats from Abakkus Asset Manager LLP . See slide #1 which shows the average spend of different countries on a wedding. India at 25K is not very far behind US which is at 35K. In Purchasing Power Parity (PPP) terms that way more! Further, this number is the average which gets diluted due to India’s huge base. If you think of this in terms of investing and the next 200M people entering middle class over the next decade, there massive opportunity in the wedding industry - destinations, wedding garments, accessories, flowers etc. This is an area where the states and the center can do more attract this spending power both from within the country and from outside. For obvious reasons, we can’t discuss stocks but a decadal investment opportunity for patient money!

Well Nithin Kamath everyone sees this from a different perspective. A Broking company will definitely see a risk of huge chunk of trading volumes dry down if some serious curbs on derivatives are implemented ( 80% of most broking companies revenues come from options trading) As a trader specially a day trader who lives on selling weekly options would definitely have to work around on Gamma, Delta positive strategies ( as delta neutral will not work in absence of weekly expiries) But for a retail trader ( most of them Buy options) this could be an interesting turn as the Theta will work in their favour and would not be surprise of that ' 9 out of 10' narrative changes positively in favour of retail traders Lets wait and see, budgets round the corner, may be this is the precursor to that :)

OFR SFT-2 reporting of non-centrally cleared bilateral repo in the US The Final Rule was issued a couple of weeks ago. Some of the detail is scattered across the discussion of the consultation, the rule itself and the technical supplments. This is a summary of key points. As a quid pro quo, please let me know if you disagree or have spotted more detail. It may be worth pointing out that, because of the SEC rule on mandatory CCP-clearing of US Treasury repo, the NCCBR market segment may shrink by as much as 88% and, rather than 40 dealers and brokers having to report, there may only be 6-15, reducing coverage of the NCCBR segment from 90-95% to as little as 56%. The CURIOUS case of 𝑶𝒑𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒔 𝑻𝒓𝒂𝒅𝒊𝒏𝒈   Options trading has ‘𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐞𝐲𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐨𝐰𝐬’ for everybody whether traders, brokers or the regulators. Not because it is helping make huge wealth but because of the sheer size of Options trading in India.   India is now world’s biggest Derivative market and have the World’s highest Derivative to cash ratio of 421 times, some expect this to touch 1000𝐗 𝐢𝐧 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐞𝐰 𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐬.    But what exactly happened in a country like India where 5 years back everybody thought options trading would only be like a ‘𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐰 𝐩𝐢𝐞𝐜𝐞’ in the whole trading bouquet. Even some brokers written off the options trading future, stating Indians cannot trade in such a so called ‘Complex’ products.   But reality is the king   Lets understand what are the triggers:   1.     𝐖𝐞𝐞𝐤𝐥𝐲 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐢𝐫𝐲: There is only one thing which is 𝐜𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧 in markets is the time decay. Trend is nobody’s friend and uncertainty is flavour of markets. Options trader could only strategise and play around the Theta decay strategy and with weekly options coming in. Suddenly a huge breed of Retail and non retail investors started strategizing and making strategies which had daily theta decay, instead of waiting for 1 month, money was made, volumes grown exponentially 2.     𝐌𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐛𝐚𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠: Machines have ZERO emotions, that is the only essential required today to win consistently, with weekly expiry, superb API, Machine learning tools, Algo trading tools. The flood gates were open and the option’s wave got the ‘ kick’ it needed 3.     𝐇𝐞𝐝𝐠𝐞 𝐛𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐟𝐢𝐭 𝐨𝐧 𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐬: The icing on the cake for an option strategy trader was to get margin benefit of the hedge trade which anyways he had to take, this boosted the space, volume and in turn ROI for options traders 4.     𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐮𝐛𝐞 𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲: Every other option trader calls themselves ‘ Option master’ create detailed Option strategy videos with technical setup, payoffs, backtesting, bar replay etc. Indians who love to swipe and scroll full day, got a good opportunity to ‘ learn and earn’ and so the Buy/Sell option buttons got clicked a billion times. ( although I strongly suggest not to trade based on advice of any unregistered entity and always put SL while trading) 5.     𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐚 𝐣𝐢𝐟𝐟𝐲: Trading becoming more easier and faster then sipping your coffee, millennials, housewives, businessman, professionals all started trading ‘ on the go’ Today around 80% of broking revenues for stock brokers come via options trading and super cool and useful option platforms are being build by product managers.
