We are pleased to see the publication of Ipsos UK's new report, conducted in partnership with CAST, on Net Zero Living in 2024 🌍 The report explores public perceptions to net zero in the UK, providing valuable insights for policy makers seeking to understand and enhance public support for net zero policies 🏛 By understanding the factors that influence public perceptions of net zero policies, policy makers can develop more effective strategies for building consensus and driving action on climate change. Three key takeaways from the report: 1) Britons continue to be worried about climate change (77%), however, there has been a slight softening in concern in recent years 📊 - Could the cost-of-living crisis be overshadowing the climate crisis? 2) Public support for net zero policies is significantly influenced by personal impacts, so framing policies in terms of positive personal impacts boosts support 🙌 - Cost savings are a particularly strong motivator, especially on policies like adjusted product pricing & EV subsidies 3) We need to make climate action personal & relatable 🤝 - Highlighting the co-benefits, like cost savings and convenience, is crucial for building public support. Extremely proud of this work based on a killer insight. The Challenge: Why don't British people seem to really care about germs? The Insight: Because they've been conditioned to not really *believe* in them. They think their homes are mostly germ-free, most of the time. The Creative Response: Well they might not think there are germs in their home, but there are other people, and those people have habits that spread germs... This small pivot has lead to a huge unlock for Dettol UK - no longer a brand just about killing germs, but a brand focused on human behaviours. Very excited for the new creative platform; Spread The Love, Not The Germs. Focusing on all the germy behaviours that the people we share a life and home with have.
