I had two discovery calls with prospects yesterday... two very different mindsets in how they approach marketing and growth. The first, the incorrect way, is hell-bent on keeping all channels and marketplaces in a silo. He fully believes he can manage each one independently, with their own team and budget and the work done will only impact that channel or marketplace. It's 2024, customer journeys are insanely complex and customers jump around from device to device to marketplace to marketplace. Thinking and operating like this will kill your business. - - - The second, the correct way, understands that a rising tide lifts all boats. In the first few minutes of our conversation, he mentioned that he knows that his Meta ads which are built to send traffic to his website, directly impact his Amazon sales. He said, we cut the budget by 50% last month, and guess what, our Amazon sales fell by 43% as a result. Most brands don't think like this. They see a 1.5 ROAS on their Meta ads and don't understand the broader implications of turning them off, firing their team member, or replacing their agency. D2C is an incredibly complex ecosystem and needs to be treated as such. I don't know what it's going to take to shift the paradigm in getting more brand owners and marketers to think like this, but it needs to happen... and fast.

Can't emphasize enough how important that is. 2️⃣ A focus on middle and lower-funnel conversions, considering people who click on Book a Demo as a conversion, Meeting Bookings, and Form Fill ups as conversions. This helped the Ads algorithm collect data and also push for lower funnel conversions simultaneously. 3️⃣ Previously the account was running Dynamic search ads which didn't make much business sense and CPA was astronomical. We need to redefine what "SALES" really means. Sales is not: - Convincing a prospect. - Benefiting from a commission. - Focusing on a quick win or short-term gains. - Pushing a product onto someone who doesn't need it. So, what is sales? Sales is: - A transfer of feeling. - Listening more than talking. - Understanding more than explaining. - Educating people on the solution to their problems. Heard some super interesting stats from a customer this week who did a win/loss analysis on their deals from Q1… ▶ All of the “Closed Lost” or “No Decision” deals had less than 4 relationships established within the accounts ▶ All of the “Closed Won” deals had 7 or more relationships established within the accounts It’s no mystery that multi-threading has a direct impact on conversion rates. It enables access to Power and helps create the breadth of support to get deals over the goal line. The best AEs find ways early in the sales cycle to triangulate their relationships so they are not dependent on their Champion to open all new doors. They flank that relationship with executive support, partner involvement, customer referrals, etc. This broader consensus speeds up deals and makes it easier for those buying committees to say "yes" and feel that any risk is shared across a larger cohort of proponents.
