Most of the clients we partner with are looking for Rust and Golang talent at the moment. This is usually a hard requirement of at least two years in production. It's understandable why this is a hard requirement, as again most of our clients are looking for people urgently to hit the ground running, who don't need to hold hands. However, if you (a potential client or hiring manager) are using Rust or Golang and are open to speaking to people from different language backgrounds (Java, C++ etc), the talent on the market available now is beyond belief. If you can afford to be flexible with your requirements, now is a brilliant time to hire really intelligent people who (If had production experience) would probably be unattainable.

Little bit of a rant coming 😁 If you are a day rate, outside of IR35 contractor, stop asking for expenses to be paid!!!!!! I get this so often at the minute when speaking to people that they want their day rate, plus a business to pay their expenses. You are running a business here, you are not employee. I use the same example every time and for some reason everyone takes it as a personal attack on them. if you employee a builder to build you an extension, they will give you a all in cost that covers, expenses, materials, time, employees and whatever else they need to do the work. Why just cause your a contractor should this be different? there is no reason, your day rate should cover everything you need to do the work and that includes going into the office when needed. If you don't want to act like a business, then don't call yourself a business and go be an employee. You can't have your cake and eat it. Also, please don't argue and tell me I don't know what I'm talking about. I've been through more IR35 training sessions than most contractors have had contracts. I'm not being difficult I'm actually trying to help, you'll moan if the tax man comes after you. Rant over 😁 have a nice day

Highlights Q1 - A slower start to the year than usual for startups/scale-ups (consistent with market conditions over the last 12-24 months). - Lack of investment and spending.
