Private 5G, “Not as Private as You May Think” Private #5G #networks and the transition to #Industry 4.0 are gaining traction as demand increases for mobile solutions that can provide higher data throughput with ultra-reliable low-#latency #communications and higher connection density, although this comes with #risk. Enterprises must be diligent in this transitional period as 5G emerges, and they begin to adopt this new technology to ensure they are aware of and manage risk as their attack surface evolves. #Private #5G, in many cases, is not entirely 5G pure; many deployments operate in Non-Stand-Alone mode with #4G / #LTE #Core #networks, which still retain many of the same vulnerabilities that have existed for years. Could holographic communication soon be the next big leap in how we connect through 5G and 6G networks? 👀 Three leading firms have recently conducted a groundbreaking demonstration showcasing the potential of IMS (IP Multimedia Subsystem) Data Channel technology to transform future 5G and 6G voice services through holographic communication. This innovative proof of concept involved the real-time transmission of holographic images of callers' faces and torsos during two-way audio calls using Samsung Galaxy S series devices. However, the demonstration revealed challenges such as the lack of standards for IMS Data Channel interfaces with third-party servers and bandwidth limitations for higher-resolution holograms. Despite these obstacles, the companies remain committed to enhancing the user experience and improving holographic services by focusing on features like RGB background integration, 3D controls, and better hologram manipulation. While the practicality and widespread adoption of holographic calls remain uncertain, the development serves as compelling fodder for the future of telecommunications.
