This #Worldenviromentalday we are happy to share more progress, on top of our multiple countries B-Corp certified, where we are making tangible impact. Sustainability is a key priority for Sanofi Consumer Healthcare in our goal to be “The best FMCH in the world and for the world”. One area we are focusing on is the production, use and lifecycle of our Point of Sale Materials (POSM). Our partnership with HH Global has given us the platform to properly drive sustainable choices for our POSM with already some strong results in print reduction, the use of recycled material and overall material reduction. For example, at the end of 2023 we recorded a 35% reduction in our printed material tonnage vs our 2021 baseline. We have decided to ramp this up with a co-led program with HH Global with clear external commitments on responsible and diverse sourcing, sustainable material use and a strong overall CO2 footprint reduction. We are committed to making sure that Sanofi Consumer Healthcare leads in POSM sustainability and are proud of our partnership with HH Global to ensure we get there together. Kudos to Marie-Pierre Goyonetche who has been leading this program with our Procurement team and all our country and customer partnership teams for executing. Do you know Dave Ford ? I first met him about 20 years ago when I was at Sanofi. It was a time, on reflection, filled with incredible talented people, people who have proven over years how outstanding they are. It was a powerful, important time in my career, when I learned quickly and when I was given opportunities to stretch myself by people who were courageous enough to let me have a go and who were confident that talent and hard work were more important than experience. For fun, I found a photo from back in those days - looking fresh faced! I remember when David was a new HR Director talking about the new car policy - something very important to the sales team!! He talked about the new flexible policy where options were allowed - you could bespoke your car - life changing for some people at that time - but David gave a condition - “Except if you want to add a whales tail fin to the back!” It summed him up. He knew the audience, he was humourous, fun, but also very strategic about his thinking. I was immediately impressed. I knew that when we decided to run a series on The Commercial Edge Podcast on difficult conversations I wanted David to join the conversation. We have stayed in touch over the years through social media and he was generous enough to debut his podcast career with us. He didn’t disappoint! We talked company values, communicating change, consistency in messages, honesty and transparency. It is a typical David discussion, smart, considered, strategic - all the reasons why he continues to shape businesses for the better. ''The perception of the pharma industry’s reputation among respondent US patient groups declined in 2023, with 57% rating the industry’s reputation as “Excellent” or “Good”, compared with 65% saying the same in 2022.'' ...sharp declines were reported by respondent US patient groups for: • the quality of pharma’s patient-group relations; • its provision of patient information; and • its ability to improve access to medicines. I would put this in a large bucket called 'Experience'. Did you ever reach Friday with a feeling that you don't quite want the working week to stop? You think I'm crazy....! Let me explain... This week I had the privilege to meet with clients and our expert teams to discuss the following projects (in no particular order): - A novel ADC candidate undergoing first in human trials in patients with advanced cancer - A gene therapy product targeting a single rare mutation leading to a variety of serious outcomes in children, which is ready for the clinic for the first time - A new injectable product focussed on making IVF cycles more convenient and hopefully more effective - An AI-based bedside imaging tool for use in emergency medicine with potential to improve diagnosis and therefore urgent care - A trial aimed at breathing new life into an often overlooked but effective therapy used in psychiatry - A simple OTC product which may help children avoid seasonal colds Perhaps now you may understand why I can't wait to see what next week will bring!
