Leading Aerospace Companies Collaborate Regarding 100% SAF Compatibility   The International Aerospace Environmental Group ® (IAEG) Aerospace Environmental Group (IAEG) announces that leading aerospace companies are collaborating to evaluate technical issues regarding the compatibility of 100% sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) with airplane systems. At the Farnborough International Airshow in the UK, James Currier, President and CEO of Honeywell Aerospace Technologies, shared insightful views on the future of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). He highlighted SAF as the single biggest opportunity to significantly reduce the aerospace industry’s carbon footprint. Currently, the supply capacity of SAF falls short of the anticipated demand, which is set to be ten times higher by 2030. Honeywell Aerospace Technologies’ approach involves diversifying feedstocks to produce SAF in collaboration with our Energy and Sustainability Solutions team. This collaboration not only aims to confirm that SAF performs effectively within our turbo machinery but also ensures efficiency isn't compromised. *Europe Must Keep Innovating in Aerospace The PEGASUS network stresses the need for long-term research and education to keep Europe at the forefront of aerospace technology. With funding currently skewed towards higher TRL levels, PEGASUS advocates for allocating 5% of SESAR 3 Joint Undertaking and Clean Aviation budgets to early-stage TRL 1-4 research conducted by university students and researchers. This will sustain radical innovation and nurture the future leaders of the aerospace industry. Universities play a pivotal role in disseminating knowledge, making it accessible, and spinning off innovative companies.
