Cloudcat Recruitment's series on common mistakes made by SDRs continues. Every mistake listed is one to keep in mind, as they have been suggest by highly successful SDRs and Sales Leaders who I have spoken to over the last few years. Using AI is great, and mastering its usage makes you extremely efficient. The majority of my network is involved in selling or utilising artificial intelligence! But using it blindly is akin to trying to sell to a prospect in a monotonous, under-researched and dry tone. A fantastic first day at TA Tech, hearing about the pace of change in the market right now. A great fireside chat with Adam Gordon Maria Trivellato and Aurore LE PEUC'H ⚛️ EVIDEN on the topic of Tech, challenges of today and getting ready for tomorrow. Three takeaways; 1. Change and ‘The Exponential Age.’ We live in ‘interesting times.’ - The scale and pace of change happening today will only accelerate. - Our job is to embrace that change, be ready and support our teams to adapt and evolve - leveraging the many benefits of AI. 2. Gen-Z are a growing demographic. In fact they will overtake Baby Boomers in the full-time workforce this year. - They’re pragmatic, have a strong sense of self-agency and value authenticity. - Growing up amid uncertainty means that they expect and are more comfortable with change. - Connecting with Gen-Z on the right channel (think YouTube, Insta and other video formats) with an authentic message is key. 3. Hyper-personalisation is a thing - an important one - more than a trend. Candidates expect consumer-grade experiences - we should embrace this as an opportunity and ensure our messaging resonates with the identified audiences. The Future: A consistent theme on the need to join up technology and leverage the power AI and data.

Cloudcat Recruitment is running a series on the top mistakes made by SDRs and Account Executives (respectively), as discovered from many conversations with Sales Leaders in the SaaS market. Mistake #1 is downright obvious and an absolute cliché in sales. But failure to appreciate the significance of rejection can be monumental to a Lead Generator's career. If it was easy to generate Leads and convert them into $$$, everyone would be doing it. It takes a particularly tenacious and strong-willed individual to find that needle in a haystack, the decision maker who not only has the Budget for your solution, but the Authority, the Need and the necessary Timescales to buy. Quality vs Quantity is the eternal debate (which we will get on to at another time), but the best analogy for an SDR's job is that they are firing targeted arrows at a dart board which is constantly moving. The strongest-minded SDRs learn to laugh at near misses, and celebrate rejection. At least it means that you're hitting the board! Those who give up, lower activity, and lower the quality of their shooting, will nearly always end up pursuing a different route. #SDR #leadgeneration #tenacity #cloudcatrecruitment

Do you need to have SDR experience to be a successful SDR? In my opinion, no. If hiring managers are just looking for existing SDR’s then a lot of talent is being missed. Call centre jobs, door-to-door sales…recruitment 😅 There are many roles out there that build resilience, grit and get people used to being told no… or worse, which is vital. Don’t get me wrong, hiring someone with SDR experience would be ideal and make them very likely to succeed. But, you might be hiring someone who wants to progress quicker than you like. If they’ve been an SDR for a year already, will they want to start from scratch and do another 12 months? They may be a bit more expensive and might even need as much training as someone with no SDR experience if they’re used to doing things a different way! There’s a lot of talent out there, don’t fish from a small pool 🎣 #recruitment #sdr #creativenatives

In Q2 of this year in the UK the average Perm Consultant made 4 placements and the average Temp Consultant made 6 placements. (UK) When we looked at the consultants at the Top 5 agencies on Recruiter Insider for Candidate Experience, we discovered that: 🚀 the average Perm Consultant there made 5 placements 🚀 the average Temp Consultant made 10 placements. In Q2 alone, the agencies with the highest candidate experience scores made 1 extra Perm placement per consultant and an 4 extra temp placements per consultant. Highlighting as always the impact candidate experience has on your placement numbers. The data doesn’t lie, an improved candidate experience means more placements.
