Gyula Mester is a multi-award-winning expert in film and television technologies, who pioneered the development of the Technocrane, the telescopic camera crane which revolutionized the Film & TV industries. He grew up in Münster, Germany, where he developed an interest in electronics, engineering, and filmmaking. He received his A.M.P.A.S. Sci-Tech Oscar in 2005 and the S.O.C. engineering award for his invention and contribution to the art and craft of cinematography in 1999. He was also a part of the management team of Technovision, the original manufacturer of Technocranes in London. He is now the technical manager of Panavision Remote Systems, where he oversees research and development, project, and technical management in the ever-evolving field of camera support and remote systems for motion pictures and broadcasting industries. He holds a US Patent #4943019 for his Technocrane related invention. He is also an expert in precision remote control of cameras and a consultant to productions.
