Are you looking to start a new hire in the new year? You had better start the recruitment process soon if you are. We are fast approaching the end of the calendar year. 💭 From shortlist to contract on average permanent hires take 2 weeks and contract hires take 1 week. 💭 On top of that you need 4 weeks for the new hire to resign from their current role, with holiday and shut downs, this can take longer at this time of year. 💭 This is a minimum of 3 weeks to get a contractor started and 6 week process for permanent hire, that is if everything runs on time. For businesses that face significant skills gap in direct applicants, but “don't use recruiters or agencies!!!!” I genuinely wonder why? Most agencies operate on a contingency basis—meaning you don’t pay anything until you hire someone. Considering the long-term revenue loss from hiring the wrong candidates (picking the best of a bad bunch) or, worse, not hiring at all - forcing you to lean heavily on existing staff, leading to burnout and further internal issues & ultimately - revenue loss. Why not work with a market specialist to access a high-quality candidate pool? If they don’t deliver a strong candidate, you pay nothing. If they don't provide a candidate strong enough to hire, you don't part with a penny. Is this not a perfect 'no win, no fee' model? Genuinely curious as to why businesses continue to flog a dead horse by posting ads on Indeed and seeing a complete mismatch in applicants. Is it a lack of awareness about fees? Is it ignorance? Everybody thinks that recruiting is easy and I can understand why. They say surely if you just hunt around long enough, you'll find the right person for the position you're looking to fill. Then all you have to do is put them in touch with their future employer, collect your percentage once they sign on the dotted line and off you go to the next one. Simple enough right? 🤣😭 But if you know anything about people, you don't need to have worked in the industry to imagine just how difficult this seemingly simple process can become. First you need to understand exactly what the employer is looking for, which requires some understanding of their business, culture and what the perfect candidate can look like. Then you need a pipeline of quality candidates that you can filter and assess in order to present the best ones to the employer - which is easier said than done when no one answers the phone but yet we live in a world where most people can't go 2 minutes without checking it 👍🏻📞 Often, when you're dealing with top talent you'll also have to sell them on the role and the company, which is not easy for people with multiple options on the table. There may then be rounds of interviews and negotiations, that you may still need to be aware of in order to keep the candidate and company moving forward. And the best part believe it or not we dont only work 1 role at a time. 🤫🫢 So yes, recruiting is definitely not rocket science. 🚀 But it's also a lot harder than it looks. So next time that recruiter friend is stressed there may be a reason.

Worried that your CV isn't being seen? 🧐 If you feel your CV/resume is going into a "blackhole", there's a very simple way to find out if your document is "searchable" Recruitment consultants/talent acquisition and HR teams use an ATS/CRM system to be able to search through large amounts of data in order to find your profile/CV/resume. If your CV/resume is in an unsearchable format, the unfortunate outcome is that you won't be contacted for future vacancies that you're suitable for. Here's out to rectify this.... 1. Copy/Control+C/Command+C the content of your document 2. Paste/Control+V/Command+V the copied text into a blank document. 3. Do the words in your document read correctly? If "yes" ✅ You're all good, you will appear in recruitment consultants/talent acquisition and HR teams will be able to search on your details. Following bleak recruitment performace in June, there has been a resurgence of job creation, adverts being posted, and placements being made in July. TL;DR🚀: - The total volume of placements increased by 34%. - Temporary & contract placements increased by 40%. - Permanent placements increased by 11%.  - Revenue per recruiter increased by 49% against a slow June. Further insights📖: - Jobs created increased 15% on the month. - Job adverts increased by 19%, reaching the highest level this year. - Both perm and temp & contract placements were at the highest level this year.
