"Maybe if they met those families in Kiambogoko, [Kenya], saw their hard work, and saw the way they have cared for and restored the environment around them, decision-makers would be inspired to match the level of ambition those families show for their children and communities." Jason Garrett with World Vision UK, wonders if there will be true ambition at this year's #COP29 climate conference and hopes it will compare to the ambition he discovered working with farmers in Kenya. #ClimateChange is a threat to children's rights. It drives extreme poverty, inequality and child vulnerability. Due to their unique metabolism and development, children are especially vulnerable to the impacts of climate change. Girls and boys face greater risk than adults of vector borne diseases, under-nutrition, diarrheal diseases and heat stress. That's why we call for #BoldClimateAction to end the injustice of climate change. #COP29

Meet World Vision's delegation at the World Urban Forum 12 Egypt this week, addressing the rights and needs of children and youth in both fragile and stable urban settings. The team included Hella, a climate youth advocate from Iraq, who shared insights on fostering child and youth-inclusive, just, safe and resilient cities. "The effects of climate change and urbanisation in Iraq are serious. Our people are suffering and our environment is in trouble. It's time for action now," she says. Let's work together to create a better future for children and youth in urban settings! #WeAreWorldVision #WUF12

The world is increasingly urbanising, but not in an equitable fashion. Globally, more than 1 billion people live in urban slums - up to 500 million among them are children. In these harsh situations, children face: 🏙️ Unsanitary & crowded living conditions 💧 A lack of access to potable water & nutritious food 📚 Fewer schooling options ❗ Violence & conflict Even in the hidden places, we're committed to promoting just and inclusive cities where children can thrive. Congrats to World Vision Kenya on 50 years of impacting children, families and communities across Kenya! 🧡
🌍 Celebrating 50 Years of Transformation! 🎉 Today, World Vision Kenya marks a milestone - 50 years of impacting the lives of children, families, and communities across Kenya! What began as a small relief effort in Machakos in 1974 has grown into one of Kenya’s leading child-focused humanitarian organizations, reaching over 2 million people annually in 37 counties. From emergency relief in drought-stricken regions to launching child sponsorships, building schools, and advancing child protection, our journey has been one of hope, resilience, and change. Our impact: ✅ Over 500 schools built 🏫, improving learning outcomes by 40%. ✅ 50% reduction in FGM cases and a 30% increase in school retention for girls through the Kenya Big Dream in the counties of Samburu, West Pokot, Migori and Baringo. ✅ 500,000 smallholder farmers supported, leading to a 40% boost in crop yields and 25% rise in household incomes. ✅ Our water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) initiatives have provided clean water to over 2 million people, significantly reducing waterborne diseases by 60% and boosting school attendance by 35%. ✅ Our emergency response efforts have assisted more than 3 million individuals in times of crisis, effectively reducing disaster-related livestock losses by 40%. #WorldVisionKenyaAt50 #TransformingLives #WVKAt50
