🌧️☔ What to do if the UK weather isn’t being BBQ-friendly? 👇 📢 You can always ‘manifest’ it by grilling some delicious vegan meat substitutes and hope that the aroma inspires the sun to shine through! 🌱🍔 Read our 'Guide to a Vegan Barbecue' to find some interesting brands and tips here: https://lnkd.in/gY-FAzHZ Founded in 2016 with a mission to 'bring real, radical change to people’s everyday diet by providing a plant-based alternative that is genuinely competitive in taste, texture, and satisfaction to animal meat', Moving Mountains has been a #VeganTrademark holder for over 5 years, since the launch of their UK’s first plant-based “bleeding” Burger. “Registering our products with The Vegan Society was important to us as a brand as part of our aim to create excellent quality products that contribute towards reducing intensive factory farming, improving food sustainability, and increasing animal welfare. We chose to use The Vegan Society’s Vegan Trademark on our products because it was easily recognisable to our customers and offered the trust and reassurance we wanted to provide. The advice that they were able to offer us throughout the application process and beyond was invaluable, and we have been impressed with the amount of support available.” Find out more about #VeganCertification here: https://lnkd.in/egvzc_y

Last week, The Vegan Society staff members had the pleasure of volunteering at local animal sanctuaries as part of our organisation's volunteer scheme. 😍🐷🐔 We supported them with tasks such as painting fences, tidying and organising the premises, cleaning, feeding and watering the animals and giving them plenty of scratches and belly rubs! Thank you to Farm Animal Rescue Sanctuary, Pigs in the Wood, Redgate Farm Animal Sanctuary, Farm Animal Sanctuary and Thornberry Animal Sanctuary for welcoming us and letting us meet your wonderful residents!

📢 Exciting news coming from Australia! Darebin has become the first Australian Council to endorse the global Plant Based Treaty. 👇 💡 Following Los Angeles, Amsterdam, Edinburgh and Belfast, Darebin Council joins the list of 30 cities, towns and councils to advocate for a shift towards a plant-based food system in line with the Paris Agreement. “I encourage other Australian councils and our region to consider the Plant Based Treaty,” said Darebin Mayor Susanne Newton. “As one of the regions of the world that could suffer some of the worst climate impacts, we should be doing all we can to change our habits for the better“. We are excited to see more cities across the world embracing the treaty. Where do you think will be next? #VeganNews Read more in the comments 👇

We were delighted to be invited to Mizkan’s factories to present the Vegan Trademark to their workforce as part of #FoodSafetyWeek in June. We gave a talk as part of their session on food labelling and claims, along with @Coeliac UK, discussing the importance of third-party certifications and what they mean. 💡Did you know, while the Vegan Trademark certification does account for cross-contamination, it is NOT an #allergen label and so it is really important to look for other third-party certifications such as Coeliac UK if you suffer from allergies. Mizkan value transparency with their product claims and have gone to lengths to register over 50 of their products with the #VeganTrademark across 4 brands. Did you know that some of their staple products that you might be able to find in your cupboard, like Branston Ltd Pickle and Sarsons UK Vinegar, carry the #VeganTrademark? 👇 Do any of these products surprise you or are you maybe thinking ‘What’s not vegan about vinegar?’ - Let us know!

🌍 Denmark's Bold Move: “World’s First” Carbon Tax on Agriculture 👇 Exciting news from Denmark! The country is set to introduce the world’s first carbon tax on agriculture, aiming to reduce emissions by 1.8 million tonnes of CO2e by 2030. This ground-breaking move, expected to be formally approved by the Danish parliament in August, represents a significant step towards a greener future. If approved it would mean that, from 2030, a tax of DKK 300 per tonne CO2e would be introduced on livestock emissions, increasing to DKK 750 per tonne CO2e by 2035. This initiative not only supports the green transition but also underscores Denmark's commitment to sustainable agriculture. The proceeds raised by the tax during 2030-31 will be returned to the industry to aid the green transition. The tax is expected to reduce emissions by 1.8 million tonnes of CO2e by 2030, enabling Denmark to achieve its legally binding target of cutting emissions by 70%. 🔗 Read more here: https://lnkd.in/gUW4u9vv #Sustainability #ClimateAction #VeganTrademark #VeganNews
