⚡ UK Power Networks is investing more than £7 million in replacing 4.5 kilometres of underground cables between Sydenham Park and Churchfields Road in south London. 🔌 The new 33,000-volt cables will be the latest design to maintain safe and reliable power supplies to customers in the local area, as more people use low carbon technologies such as heat pumps and electric vehicle (EV) chargers in future. 🚧 The project began in March this year and is expected to take 22 months to complete.

🆕 #opendata set alert from UK Power Networks. 🔔 ⚡ We’ve made planning your electricity usage simple! 🔌 From installing EV charge points to heat pumps, stakeholders can now see which secondary substation is feeding their area with our new secondary substation feeding map. This is now published for the 71,000+ unredacted sites across our entire network. 🤝 Special credit to Geoff Crollie for network tracing to even make this possible. Credit to Yiu-Shing Pang, Harshil Sumaria, Rebecca Flack and Mollie Purser for manipulating and publishing this dataset as well as to the excellent engineers who install LV monitoring equipment to provide visibility of our networks.

💥 New Dataset Alert 💥 Over the past year, we've been dedicated to enhancing data transparency across our network assets. Building on this, our new dataset for 33kV circuits is now available on our Open Data Portal. Currently, this dataset is for SPN, with EPN expected to be available by the end of August. Here's what you can now access: 📊 Super Grid Transformer Power Flow Historic 📊 132kV Circuit Operational Data (Half Hourly & Monthly) 📊 Grid Transformer Power Flow Historic (Half Hourly & Monthly) 🆕 33kV Circuit Operational Data (Half Hourly & Monthly) Our data format is the same as our other datasets, following the rules of the Utilities Act s105. Please check the monthly dataset to see if the circuit you're interested in is available. If any data is hidden, we've included monthly statistics to give you a general overview. #Opendata Jamie Bright

🌟 Rule #1 of the 40+ Club: Talk About the 40+ Club!🌟 In the UK, employees will stay with a company on average for 5 years, but we are not an average company! 320 of our employees have stayed with us for more than 40 years, and last week we once again thanked them for their dedication and continued service at our 40+ Club celebration! Their knowledge, experience and mentoring is invaluable to those starting out on a career in engineering, and is absolutely part of what makes UK Power Networks one of the best big companies to work for in the UK.

Flexibility is a key focus for our Distribution System Operator (DSO), but we know that it is a relatively new topic for many local authorities in our area. To help you get started with finding opportunities in your area, signposting to residents, or just finding out more about the process, we've put together a quick guide: 'A Local Authority's Guide to Flexibility'.
