Award season is in full swing and we’re excited about the last two nights of awards ceremonies.   The Investors in People Awards was a fantastic night to see our hard work and effort on making UK Power Networks a great place to work rewarded as the joint UK Employer of the Year in the Platinum, 250+ employees division.🏆   On Tuesday at the Communicate Magazine’s Corporate & Financial Awards with our partners Instinctif Partners we won:   🥇Gold award - Best online report – Unlisted 🥇Best printed report – Unlisted   Lastly, we collected an award at the UK IT Industry Awards 2024 for:   💻 Digital Transformation Project of the Year   We pride ourselves on investing in our people and their industry-leading customer service and communication. 🌲 Arborists working for UK Power Networks in the East of England are certainly feeling chipper after receiving new equipment to help them dispose of overgrown trees efficiently and recycle the chips. ⚡ Tree branches touching overhead power lines are one of the most common causes of power cuts in rural areas, so we spend £24million every year trimming trees and vegetation away from overhead power lines to keep the network safe. The arborists will be using new chippers that can be towed along behind vehicles, as well as trialling a special four wheel drive vehicle designed for navigating rough terrain.

❄️ In preparation for winter, we are focused on discussing and finding solutions to key issues faced by vulnerable. To do this, our customer vulnerability team hosted a roundtable session with several key stakeholders including Ofgem, National Energy Foundation, Kent County Council and Asthma + Lung UK. Some of the key takeaways from the session include: 🍂 Vulnerable customers are now struggling with energy debt in all seasons 💻 The importance of face-to-face contact and the impact of digital exclusion ⚡ Collaboration between utilities, local authorities and charities is more important than ever. We are committed to working with our delivery partners to support our vulnerable customers through the winter period and beyond.
