About us

The Children’s Hospital Charity makes our brilliant hospital even better! One of only four specialist children’s hospitals in the UK, the quality of care here is testament to the skill and dedication of staff, the generosity of our donors and the courage of our children and their families. Children come from all over the world to see Sheffield Children's Hospital specialists and we work hard to make it better by funding things which the NHS does not cover. The money raised through donations buys life-saving equipment, funds vital research and treatment for thousands of children from across the world and helps us create a comfortable, engaging environment for our patients. Patients and their families are at the centre of everything we do. They deserve to be treated with the best facilities in a hospital designed with children in mind. We fund four key areas: • £250,000 of research each year into the prevention and cure of childhood illnesses. • New facilities to extend the range of treatment provided. • Improvements to the hospital environment that will benefit patients, families and visitors. • Specialist medical equipment.

Three teams are taking on today’s challenge: Team AMRC TC Apprentice trekkers; Team James MacInnes; and Team Blake UK Snowdon. They each have their own reasons for climbing Snowdon, but are brought together to make a difference in the lives of patients and families at Sheffield Children’s. So far they have raised over £3,000 and there’s still time to support their fundraising here: https://lnkd.in/eYSWzNsf The trek is being led by the wonderful team from Dolomite Training and we’re so grateful to them for keeping our supporters safe. Good luck to all our trekker’s, we’ll be thinking of you every step of the way!

The Charity is proud to announce our partnership with the amazing team behind Cutlery Works and the new Cambridge St Collective, Blend Family! 💙 Through their charitable arm, the Blend Culinary Foundation, the Blend Family team has committed to supporting Sheffield Children’s in as many ways as possible, after being inspired on a recent visit to the hospital. Cambridge St Collective features a cookery facility that has been utilised by many different departments at Sheffield Children’s. This has allowed Sheffield Children's teams to run sessions for families and patients, teaching them ways to cook for different dietary needs that children might have due to their conditions or treatment plans. Alongside this, every month through the Cutlery Works’ vendor, Little Dough, the team has delivered pizzas to our Oncology Ward, offering patients and families a monthly treat while they're in hospital. The Blend Family also recently held a pledge day for our Charity ambassadors at Cambridge St. Together they cooked meals for parents staying at Sheffield Children’s to be frozen and put into freezers across our wards and departments. Matt & Nina Bigland, CEOs of Blend Family, said “We have always known about the work that Sheffield Children’s Hospital does, but after visiting the hospital last month, we were blown away by the amazing facilities and staff teams. As parents ourselves, we know the importance of facilities like Sheffield Children’s Hospital. We know we have a platform to make a difference, and we will always utilise it as much as we can.” Thank you so much to Matt, Nina, Niki, and the Blend Family team – you are amazing and we are so grateful for everything you do! 💛 To find out more about the Blend Culinary Foundation and their support of Sheffield Children’s, please visit: https://lnkd.in/efjw25fy

  • On Sunday, Luton Town Football Club player Jacob Brown surprised his biggest fan, ten year old Jack Powell, with a visit to Sheffield Children's Hospital! Jacob and Jack presented a cheque for a whopping £9,440 to the Paediatric Bone Disease team, who have cared for Jack since he was born. Having given Jack tours of Luton Town's training grounds recently, it was time for Jack to show Jacob his turf! ⚽ The Paediatric Bone Disease team explained how Sheffield Children's NHS Foundation Trust supports children just like Jack who have osteogenesis imperfecta. With the help of Jack, this specialist team gave Jacob a tour of the facilities Jack is all too familiar with, showing Jacob just how impactful his incredible fundraising is. Jacob said: "The team does a truly amazing job with helping so many kids like Jack with osteogenesis imperfecta. "It was great to learn more about Jack’s condition, the treatment he has received and how donations can really help to support the team in so many ways." The Charity and the brilliant team at Sheffield Children's are so thankful for Jacobs's support, it makes a huge difference to those under the care of this specialist team.
