Feeding a hungry child should not be a political statement. Powerful words from Hani Almadhoun. I am extremely grateful to hear him speak for The Resource Alliance today. His brother, his brother's wife and their 4 children were all killed in Gaza. He has lost further family and friends. And while grieving he found greater resilience than I can imagine possible. Earlier this year, he set up the Gaza soup kitchen with his other brother and their friends. They had 4 pots and managed to serve meals to 120 families and were delighted. People started asking to send money to help the kitchen. Now they have received donations from 67 countries and continue feeding children who are facing starvation in Gaza. This week they have served more than 800 families and the need is not diminishing. Feeding a hungry child should not be a political statement. https://lnkd.in/gMBuxf-a

Today's monthly keynote with The Resource Alliance Global Community was about #leadership. Not about the theoretical part of leadership, but about choices you make to create impact - towards purpose and justice. Hani Almadhoun is Director of Philanthropy of UNRWA USA and founder of Soup Kitchen. He shared unique, first-person insights into what it means to be a leader in the most difficult of circumstances - and learnings in doing so. He does not only raise funds, he also raises questions: about the direction of philanthropy – and why funding is not equal. He talks about the topic 'who tells the story'? And, the importance of media attention - and what will happen with 'crisis fatigue'. While he shares his experience directly from Gaza, this also reflects many other (silent) crises across the globe. Besides that he initiated Soup Kitchen, to do more – to support his family and 1000s of others in Gaza, and to raise over $1.4 million from mainly individuals - showing the true side of philanthropy: the love for humankind. Tomorrow, I will be in conversation with Hani Almadhoun, in The Resource Alliance's monthly keynote about #leadership. Hani will talk about his life and his work: from his role as Director of Philanthropy at UNRWA USA; his deep links to Palestine, with some family inside Gaza; and how the Gaza Soup Kitchen has successfully managed to raise $1.3 million to feed more than 4,000 people every day. We will explore #leadership - in professional and personal aspects - driven by #passion, #empathy, ending #injustice, - and, foremost #action and #impact. Join us at tomorrow's keynote, Wednesday, 31 July, at 09.00 EDT | 14.00 BST | 15.00 CEST/CAT | 18.30 IST | 21.00 CST. Register free: https://bit.ly/3Y9UXBQ
Crises are multiplying globally; one in six people around the world are currently exposed to conflict and 114 million are displaced. Leaders - and aspiring leaders - in the social impact space must be prepared to lead their organisations through turbulent times. That's why the focus of this month's free keynote is on leadership in crisis. Next Wednesday, we'll be joined by Hani Almadhoun, Director of Philanthropy at UNRWA USA - and a Palestinian feeding thousands of starving and displaced people through his family's soup kitchen in Northern Gaza. In his role at UNRWA, an organisation mandated to provide emergency humanitarian assistance and essential service delivery, Hani has not only been leading his team as they experience mounting trauma, but has been managing funds that have grown from $7 million to $32 million in a matter of months. The keynote takes place next Wednesday, 31 July, at 09.00 EDT | 14.00 BST | 15.00 CEST/CAT | 18.30 IST | 21.00 CST. Were you with us at last month's IFC Pop-Up event in Cape Town? The feedback we've had this year as we've ramped up our international events, connecting with people in person in India, South Africa, Zambia, Uganda, and Kenya, with Canada and - of course! - the Netherlands still to come, has been amazing and we can't wait to meet even more of you around the world next year and beyond. #SocialImpact #SouthAfrica #NonprofitEvents #PopUpEvent #impact #charities #nonprofits #fundraising Relatomics Foundation Relativ Impact Shawn Buck Colin Habberton

This has been one of my proudest moments this year! I was honored to get to lead the effort to bring back the IFC Cape Town Pop-up for the first time since 2020. This mini-conference was how I got introduced to the world of fundraising in 2016. It led to me learning so much, meeting incredible life long friends, and being a part of The Resource Alliance events around the world. I wanted to help bring that to others. Our vision was to do a localized event with mostly in-person speakers sharing their experiences to the fundraising community around the country. I feel proud that we were able to achieve this, that people saw the value, and that the feedback has been so positive. Hearing all the amazing words in this video warms my heart. Thanks so much to the Relatomics Foundation team, Andrea Scheepers, Melissa Wippenaar Page, Sarah Nielsen, Safiyya Karim, Marsé Kirsten, Gabrielle Habberton, and Colin Habberton, for helping make it happen. Thank you to The Resource Alliance team, Ruby Chadwick, Cat O Broin, and Willeke van Rijn, for trusting us and supporting us. Thank you to our sponsors RLabs *Reconstructed Living Lab (Marlon Parker), LIFEbrand (Warren Lodge), Microsoft (Christina Macchiarola), Charity Careers Africa (Bruce Tait, FInstF),GivenGain (Jannie Smith), Hashtag Nonprofit NPC (Ruendree Govinder) for believing in the idea and supporting it. Thank you to the incredible people like Carolin Gomulia, Malvern Mhlanga, Nyasha N., Ntombenqaba Precious Petros, and Sarah Scarth for all the advice and insight. Lastly, thank you to all our incredible speakers and all of our attendees. This was all about you all!
