Your Co-op welcomes the Employment Rights Bill, introduced by the Department for Business and Trade. Our Group CEO, Shirine Khoury-Haq has said: "We support the Government's ambitions to strengthen rights for workers and value the co-operative approach to involve employers in the reforms. As the UK’s largest consumer co-operative, Co-op has long supported colleagues to have good working lives, with policies like our leading bereavement leave, day one right to request flexible working arrangements, and menopause support already in place. The positive impact of these policies is clear to see. “Being able to support colleagues when they need it, and in particular women, parents and carers, helps retain valuable talent and makes good business sense. We look forward to continuing to work with Government to make work pay and to deliver economic growth.”

We are so proud to see Co-op Live take the entertainment world by storm. Co-op’s venue partnership is a unique naming rights deal with Oak View Group & City Football Group and is the very definition of co-operation, working together on nearly every aspect of the venue. And Co-op is woven throughout it – from branding to community values, to our exclusive member benefits and to the food we serve our fans. We joined forces with Salford legend Dr. John Cooper Clarke to put into words what makes Co-op Live so special with a poem, Proper Sound, brought to life by Lucky Generals and ICONOCLAST. It is a rhythmic tribute to this incredible Manchester-based music venue built on Co-op values. From the humble days of outdoor bogs to the modern marvel of Co-op Live, John paints a vivid picture of resilience, community, and the boundless power of music. PROPER SOUND

The panel features a range of colleagues and senior leaders spanning all our Co-op businesses, and on the night they'll be reflecting on the post "Black Lives Matter" period and asking – has anything really changed? 👉🏽 In-person networking event 👈🏾 🥘 Food and drinks 🍹 Join a progressive panel as they reflect on the realities of workplace equality and inclusivity for Black professionals in the post "Black Lives Matter" era. 🙌🏾 ABOUT THE SESSION Reflecting on Change: How Much Has Changed in the Workplace Since The Black Lives matter Movement? The global 'Black Lives Matter' protests of 2020 ignited a wave of corporate pledges to foster diversity, equality, and inclusion in the workplace. These commitments promised to reshape the corporate landscape, making it more inclusive for Black professionals. Yet, as we navigate the complexities of 2024, marked by geopolitical tensions and culture wars, it's easy to feel that the world remains as divided as ever. In honour of Black History Month 2024, our panel discussion will delve into this pressing issue. We’ll explore the progress made since the 'Black Lives Matter' movement and critically assess whether these corporate promises have truly translated into meaningful change for Black professionals. This conversation, guided by this year's theme, will provide an honest reflection on the current state of workplace diversity and the challenges that persist. Join us as we bring together thought leaders, industry experts, and change-makers to engage in a candid dialogue about the realities Black people face in today’s workplace. We'll address the question on everyone’s mind: How much has really changed for Black people in the workplace in the post-'Black Lives Matter' era? This discussion is not just about looking back—it's about driving the conversation forward, identifying gaps, celebrating successes, and setting the stage for the future of workplace inclusivity. Don’t miss this opportunity to be part of a conversation that matters.
