  • 🤿 Did you know our subsea cable network provides power supplies from the mainland to 59 Scottish Islands, including the Inner and Outer Hebrides, Arran and the Orkney Islands?   🐟 An example of the work our specialist subsea team does all year round is their planned replacement of the existing subsea cable between Kilmalieu and Loch A’Choire in Summer 2025 – community engagement is key when planning such projects, and the team has recently been holding public information sessions in the area.   🏫 And in addition to these public sessions, the subsea team has also visited Strontian Primary School and Ardnamurchan High School to give pupils an insight into the work that goes on behind the scenes when planning a cable installation, as well as more information on careers in this specialist field and across SSEN Distribution.   Read more in the article below

  •  🧑🤝🧑 Supporting community and personal resilience is a key part of our commitment to being a good neighbour, and so we were proud to be sponsoring Moray Council's third Community Resilience Conference at Inchberry Hall last Thursday. 🤝 The conference was sponsored as part of the funding we awarded to Moray Council following Storm Arwen ( read more here: https://bit.ly/morfund); it was a great way for local community groups and emergency responders to get together to share their own experiences of dealing with an emergency, swop best practices and listen to guest speakers - including Pamela Harvey, our Customer Relationship Manager for the area. 📹We caught up with Rhona McNicol from Moray Council at the end of the day, to learn more about the event and some of the topics that were covered across what had been a busy and very well-attended conference. • 📺 In case you missed us on STV News earlier in the week – or if you live further afield…our utility arborists featured on Wednesday’s main bulletin, captured on camera at a special wind-blown tree training exercise earlier that day.   🌲 Our inhouse arborists work all year round to ensure trees and vegetation are kept a safe distance from our equipment, so when the winds blow, branches won’t strike our lines and cause the power to go off. But when storms come, the ferocity of their gale-force winds can sometimes be enough to bring whole trees down, and if they land on our lines this can cause the power to go off.   👷👷♀️ On Wednesday, over 30 of our arborists from across the north of Scotland took part in a training day on a site specifically chosen for its wind-blown trees – it was an ideal location for colleagues with a wide range of experience to sharpen their skills and share their knowledge. Visit the STV Group plc website to see more from the day itself… https://lnkd.in/egjG7ADE
