  • Last November, a team of 15 members from Sony Europe in Athens participated in a reforestation voluntary activity in collaboration with the Municipality of Elliniko-Argyroupoli and other local entities.   This activity aimed to help restore the forests of Ymittos, a region significantly affected by recent wildfires. Together with their families and other volunteers, the team planted hundreds of new trees, supporting the recuperation of this ecosystem, and expanding the environmental awareness and dedication.   Moutoulas Pantelis, Cluster Head Hellas & Cyprus explained: “This experience not only strengthened our team spirit but also demonstrated our commitment to values like environmental stewardship and community service.” Thank you, team, for your activity and dedication, your support to the environment can make a big impact! 🌳 #SonyEurope #SonyCares #Sustainability #SocialContribution

  • Ho-Ho-Ho! 🎅🏼 Christmas is coming and our Sony Europe UK Team spent a day in Covent Garden, London, to support Save the Children UK. Part of our team volunteered at their pop-up shop speaking to customers, pricing up items and restocking shelves, while the other part walked around the square for bucket collections. In 2023 Save the Children reached 33 million children through health and nutrition programming, 8.4 million children through education programmes and 3.3 million through child protection programmes. Thank you for changing the course of children’s lives - this will be felt for years to come.   • In December, the Sony Europe Iberia teams volunteered with Banco Alimentar Contra a Fome and Cruz Roja to bring their support to these organisations and their assisted ones. Our colleagues from Lisbon assisted with food sorting, helping the volunteers of Banco Alimentar to collect and sort the donated food. The team from Barcelona collaborated with the local Red Cross for a Toy Sorting activity, donating, collecting, reviewing and classifying the toys that will be donated or used to children in social vulnerability throughout Spain. Both Spanish and Portuguese colleagues joined fundraising from the Spanish Youth Red Cross to provide children with toys during these holidays. Finally, they arranged a Family & Friends Day in the three Iberia offices to celebrate Christmas all together in an event with food and activities for the little ones - they also received Santa Claus' visit! 😍🎅🏼 Well done, Iberia team!   • Early this month, a group from Sony Europe United Kingdom joined the Surrey County Council tree planting team for a day on a local farm in Horley. As part of Surrey County Council's 1.2 million new tree strategy, they are supporting two farms to complete their remarkable new hedgerow planting. Increased tree planting helps communities to fight the effects of climate change. These hedgerow saplings are great for capturing pollution, reducing noise, mitigating flooding, and providing food and shelter to wildlife. Larger trees, planted on residential verges help absorb carbon dioxide and provide shade as well as helping Surrey County Council meet their net zero goal.   Faced with the tough terrain and copious amounts of mud to wade through, every member was given a bunch of tree roots to plant across 2 fields, a final result of 2000 trees planted!   • Last month, our Sony Europe EPE (European Professional Engineering) Team dedicated some days to three heartwarming volunteering activities in the United Kingdom! Together, they helped tidy up the gardens and set up The Sebastian's Action Trust Bluebells children’s respite home for Christmas, Then they worked at the Basingstoke Canal Society for cleaning and maintenance of the area to provide better access for the walkers, runners, cyclists and others who enjoy the canal every day. Lastly, they worked behind the scenes for the St. Michael's Hospice (North Hampshire), assisting in their Christmas ‘pop-up’ shop, sorting, pricing and displaying donated clothing and other goods for sale in this temporary charity shop in Basingstoke’s Festival Place shopping centre. Thank you team for your time and efforts in donating a better Christmas to children and families and for contributing to environment maintenance!   • November was the month for supporting and championing men’s health. 🩺 However, it is also affectionately known as Movember, coined by an annual global campaign that encourages men to grow a moustache (mo!) and participate in various activities to raise awareness about men's health issues. We called on the men of Sony Europe to show their support by sharing their best facial hair growth efforts! They sent their ‘before’ and ‘after’ selfies – the first taken at the start of November and the second, at the end of the month, showcasing their moustache in all its glory!   • Last month, a 30-person group from Sony Europe Poland took part in a volunteering tree-planting initiative, contributing to ecological improvements. 🌳 The day began with a meeting with the Fundacja Las Na Zawsze team, who introduced our volunteers to the history of the organization, its mission, and the characteristics of the area where they were set to work. After dividing into groups, the team participated in detailed training on planting techniques and the species of trees to plant and then got to work! Our Polish team, led by Country Head Dariusz Kluska, joined forces with the Foundation to plant a forest covering an area of 5,965 m² in Niezamierowice, using 10 different species of plants to create a biodiversity area, including oaks, lindens, maples, poplars, and hazels. The team worked with great dedication, even giving names to the trees planted. ❤ You created something extraordinary, team – a forest that will grow for decades to come! Thank you and very well done!   • Last week, the Sony Europe Lund HR Team had the pleasure of spending a Volunteering Day at the Ronald McDonald Hus i Lund. The house functions as a “home away from home”, offering a safe environment for recovery and relief in the tough situation a family is in when their child is hospitalised, allowing the whole family to be close and together.
