Great news for Welsh renewables! ☀️ 🏴 Smaller-scale solar farms in Wales will now bypass direct ministerial approval, accelerating project timelines and unlocking billions of pounds of investment. This is a major step towards a cleaner, greener Wales. With a massive £46.8 billion investment opportunity in renewable energy by 2035, Wales is poised to create thousands of jobs and boost its economy. The Welsh Government's commitment to supporting renewable energy, including public-owned projects and collaborations with the UK government, further strengthens this positive trajectory. ➡ Read more: https://lnkd.in/edQt-fzB #SolarPower #Wales #CleanEnergy

On Monday, Solar Energy UK attended a Westminster event hosted by Solar Options for Schools Ltd, where Claudia O'Hara, President of National Grid Electricity Distribution, discussed the Grid's role in clean energy and community support. The event focused on National Grid’s £2.7 million partnership with Solar for Schools to install solar panels in disadvantaged areas, starting in Birmingham. This initiative aims to reduce energy costs and carbon emissions in schools by 2028. A highlight of the event was children from these schools sharing how they use solar energy and promote climate action. Over the past year, the partnership allocated £480,000 across 46 schools, saving an estimated £12 million in energy costs. The initiative also fosters STEM education and community engagement. The event concluded with calls for continued collaboration and education on sustainability. #SolarForSchools #CleanEnergy #Communities

Remembrance Day is on Monday 11 November, where we remember the service and sacrifice of all those that have defended our freedoms and protected our way of life. We therefore take this opportunity to ask members to support Mission Renewable, formed to harness the skills and experience of the veteran community for the renewables sector, while helping to address the transition to civilian life. To learn more about the benefits of hiring service leavers, please contact Duncan Forde via [email protected] #RemembranceDay #LestWeForget

🏢💡 Did you know that the UK’s warehouses hold vast potential to drive our renewable energy transition? With over 350 million square meters of warehouse rooftop space, we could transform these roofs into solar power plants, supporting the UK's 2030 energy goals. Member InRange CEO John Mushriqui explores the challenges and solutions in our latest blog. Why are only 5% of commercial and industrial rooftops equipped with solar? Financial returns, grid issues, and regulatory complexities are a few hurdles. But with a paradigm shift, warehouses could generate large-scale, distributed solar energy. Key steps in this shift: ✅ Full roof utilisation to boost returns and reduce costs ✅ Guaranteed export tariffs to attract large buyers like data centres ✅ Participation in distributed energy networks for efficient aggregation and sale of excess energy ✅ Automation for efficient rollouts and streamlined operations #SolarEnergy #RenewableEnergy #EnergyTransition #UKWarehouses

☀️🔋 NESO's Clean Power 2030 Report Underplays Solar's Potential. Today's release of the National Energy System Operator's (NESO) Clean Power 2030 report is a missed opportunity to fully recognise the potential of solar and battery energy storage. We are concerned that NESO's analysis underestimates the rapid growth of solar and battery technologies, particularly in the rooftop solar and battery storage sectors. Solar energy offers a cost-effective, low-carbon solution to power our nation. We urge the Government to consider these concerns and support policies that accelerate the deployment of solar and battery energy storage. #CleanEnergy #Renewables #SolarPower #BatteryStorage #NESO
