Massimo Bottura is a celebrated Italian chef known for his revolutionary approach to cuisine. Growing up in Modena, Italy, he was immersed in the rich gastronomic culture of Emilia-Romagna. His grandmother's cooking and the region’s famous culinary heritage significantly influenced him from a young age. Initially pursuing a career in law, his true passion for food led him to switch paths. During his university years, he began working in local restaurants, where he discovered his true calling. His experiences in these kitchens, coupled with his desire to honour and innovate upon traditional Italian cuisine, eventually led him to abandon his legal studies in favour of a culinary career. Bottura’s passion for cooking led him to open Osteria Francescana in 1995, where he began his journey to becoming a global culinary icon. His restaurant quickly gained fame for its inventive dishes, including the deconstructed lasagna and the “Five Ages of Parmigiano Reggiano”. Under his leadership, Osteria Francescana earned three Michelin stars and was named World’s Best Restaurant in 2016.
