Fuelling Ambitions Of South Asian Women and Girls 🚀 Founder | Podcast Host | UN UK Women Delegate| Kilimanjaro 🎥 First All South Asian Female Group To Climb ⛰️

I co founded Rising Together CIC a small grass roots initiative that focuses on empowering under-represented minority groups in the UK, with a special focus on young women and girls. We looked at these stats and decided to be a part of the solution: *Only 14% of girls said they feel happy most of the time. This has declined year on year in 2009 it was 40% (Girl Guiding 2021) *On average young women aged 18 to 29 earned 22% less than their male peers in 2021 (IONS 2021) *53% of under 21s say they've missed out on developing skills for the future during the pandemic (Girl Guiding 2021) Our mission is to uplift and empower minority women and girls by providing them with the necessary skills, opportunities, and resources to excel in various aspects of their lives. Most of our projects are focused in Leicester, if you'd like to collaborate on projects that will empower our young women and girls let me know!

Girls’ body language tends to shrink when they get to middle school. Because girls are learning — from countless images and channels and messages — that they are supposed to make themselves small. It doesn’t have to be this way. We have the power to change it. By encouraging them to expand, to speak up, to share their ideas. Let’s remind them what they were made for — to be proud, confident, whole. A brilliant message by Amy Cuddy!

July is Disability Pride Month! Celebrated in the UK since 2015, Disability Pride Month is a chance to raise awareness and celebrate the diversity of the disabled community. The colours of the Disability Pride flag represent different things: Red – physical disabilities and conditions Gold - neurodivergence like autism and ADHD White – invisible and undiagnosed conditions Blue – mental health conditions Green – sensory disabilities and conditions The design has lots of meaning, too - the diagonal stripes represent cutting across the barriers that disabled people face, and the colours are muted and arranged to reduce flickering when scrolling past the flag online. We hosted our monthly walk in Leicestershire yesterday. A walk accross Beacon Hill Country Park and up to the Trigg Point. The sun was out, nature was beautiful and the company was brilliant. At Rising Together CIC, we believe in the transformative power of outdoor adventures to build confidence and empowerment in South Asian women and girls. One of the key findings from a diversity review commissioned by DEFRA is that although people from diverse backgrounds valued the natural environment, they often had negative perceptions of the social environment, expecting to feel excluded and conspicuous in what they perceived to be an exclusively English place. We love hosting these walks and giving women and children a safe place to explore the The National Forest Company together! Although aimed at women and girls - ALL welcome!
