🟢❌ What are the pros and cons of Amazon Ads? Whether you're a self-publishing author or a book marketer, you've probably encountered Amazon Ads before. Is it all it's cracked up to be? Well, let’s dive in! 🟢 Pros: 🛒 Advertise where readers buy books: As the biggest bookseller in the English-speaking world, Amazon targets readers where they are most likely to purchase. 💸 Pay-per-click only: This means you can afford broader targeting since you pay nothing unless an impression leads to a click. 🕐 Quick setup: Automatically uses your book’s cover and metadata (title, subtitle, reviews, etc.). All you have to do is decide on your targeting and bidding. 📊 Some sales data: Amazon Ads provide data on sales from ad clicks, which is more than many other platforms offer. However, this data is not perfect… …which leads us to ❌ Cons: 📈 Hyper-competitive: An oversaturated market has skyrocketed costs-per-click, making it harder to win impressions, clicks, and sales. 🔄 Time-consuming optimization: Amazon Ads use an auction system where advertisers bid for impressions, so you need to keep adjusting your bids to keep your campaigns profitable and scalable. 📉 Difficult to scale: Increasing budget and exposure is challenging, especially in niche genres with fewer keywords. 🔍 Incomplete sales data: Amazon's sales data reflects total book sales from ads, not net royalties.
