There has been a lot of misinformation in the media to drive a false narrative that is hateful and divisive, and surprise surprise, another opportunity to attack the Trans community who have absolutely nothing to do with this story!. I will openly admit that I don't have all the information, however, rather than react to click bait on social media, I have spent a whole evening try to unpick the Imane Khelif story. This is what the media wants us to believe about Khelif: ❌ That she is Trans ❌ She was born a man ❌ She is a man fighting women in the Olympics and "pummelling them" (as a friend of mine so eloquently put it!) What I have found out about Khelif: 👩 She was born a woman 👩 She was raised as a girl 👩 She has lived her whole life as a women 👩 She has a condition which means she is a woman with XY chromosomes 👩 Repeatedly she has had to justify her existence as a woman and as a female boxer 🥊 She is a pretty good boxer (she is at the Olympics remember) however she isn't invincible and has lost 6 times to other woman 🥊 She fulfils all the requirements by the IOC to box as a woman in her weight category 🥊 She has no unfair advantage over other woman competing in her weight category - I've read the IOC framework on Fairness, Inclusion and Non-Discrimination on the Basis of Gender Identity and Sex Variations, it would be great if other did also before commenting on how unfair this all is! My conclusion until I am proved it is any different: 💡 Khelif is a woman 💡 She is committed to winning gold at the Paris Olympics and doesn't want to be drawn into this media circus 🙁 The media and Italian PM have taken this opportunity to attack a woman for striving to the best she can be for the benefit of weaponising an Olympic event to attack the Trans community 🙁 Anyone who feels that by "coming to the aid" of the Italian boxer is defending woman's rights need to take a step back, have a broader more inclusive optic, and question what is really going on here Khelif is not the only boxer being targeted her. Lin Yu-ting has also been drawn into the media storm. Both woman of colour, one from the East and one from North Africa 🤷♀️ Well done the IOC for defending the athletes 👏 ProudHR has always and will always stand with woman and the Trans community (they aren't mutually exclusive remember), will call out what we believe is misinformation targeting our community, and share a perspective that isn't driven by hate. ProudHR stands with Christopher Joell-Deshields and Pride in London with this statement below.

Braverman's Bigoted Rhetoric Has No Place in Society! As the CEO of Pride in London, I am deeply troubled and angered by the recent comments made by former Home Secretary Suella Braverman regarding the Pride Progress flag and LGBTQ+ rights. Her divisive and hateful rhetoric has no place in the diverse, tolerant society we are working to build. Ms. Braverman's claim that the Pride Progress flag represents the "mutilation of children" is not only factually incorrect, but it is a malicious attack on the very existence and identity of trans and non-binary people. The Pride Progress flag is a symbol of inclusivity, celebrating the diversity of the LGBTQ+ community, including trans, intersex, and non-binary individuals. It in no way endorses the harming or medicalisation of children, as Ms. Braverman so crudely suggested. This is not the first time Ms. Braverman has espoused such regressive and discriminatory views. As Home Secretary from September 2022 to January 2023, she oversaw policies that eroded hard-won LGBTQ+ rights and emboldened anti-LGBTQ+ voices. [1] Braverman was a vocal opponent of banning conversion therapy, arguing that it should still be allowed for transgender people.[2] She also supported proposals to require schools to inform parents if their child came out as trans, which many LGBTQ+ advocates criticised as undermining the privacy and safety of trans youth.[3] Additionally, Braverman made multiple public statements questioning the validity of transgender identities and the need for gender-affirming healthcare, rhetoric that was viewed by LGBTQ+ groups as emboldening anti-trans sentiment.[4] Under her tenure, the Home Office was accused of deprioritising LGBTQ+ equality issues and failing to sufficiently address hate crimes and discrimination targeting the community.[5] Her continued crusade against the progress made by the LGBTQ+ community is deeply concerning and has no place in modern, tolerant Britain. The LGBTQ+ community and our allies will not be silenced or cowed by this hateful rhetoric. We will continue to proudly fly the Pride Progress flag, to celebrate our diversity, and to fight for the equal rights and dignity of all people, regardless of their gender identity or sexual orientation. As the CEO of Pride in London, I call on Ms. Braverman and all public figures to abandon their bigoted views and embrace the inclusive, diverse future that the vast majority of Britons desire. The Pride Progress flag is a symbol of hope, acceptance and belonging - values that should be celebrated, not denigrated. 🏳️🌈 #LGBTQ #PrideProgessFlag #LGBTQIA #POLITICS

The dominance of France’s far right in the first round of the French parliamentary elections should be a stark warning to us about the importance of using our voice and vote if we don’t want the UK to go the same way. In a world that seems to becoming more polarised in opinion, there is a need for people to speak up for common sense and to protect those more vulnerable than ourselves. For those of us who believe in the richness that diversity brings and who strive for an equitable fair society, we must heed the warning of the past as well as see what is happening around us. The haunting poem "First They Came" is a reminder of what can happen if we do not use our privilege to speak up and stand up for others. First they came for the Communists And I did not speak out Because I was not a Communist Then they came for the Socialists And I did not speak out Because I was not a Socialist Then they came for the trade unionists And I did not speak out Because I was not a trade unionist Then they came for the Jews And I did not speak out Because I was not a Jew Then they came for me And there was no one left To speak out for me. (Martin Niemöller) Emma Cusdin (She/Her/Hers), has written a piece for ProudHR  on the importance of voting. Thank you Emma for all that you and your wife Rachel Reese 🏳️⚧️🏳️🌈 do for our community.

This Saturday saw over 600 groups march through the streets of central London in front of a crowd of over a million people for Pride in London ProudHR were there with our friends Pride Beats Prejudice and Black Women In HR - BWHR. We were a group of 32 - proud members of the LGBTQ+ community, proud allies and proud parents. Whilst we as a community have come along way, we still aren't fully liberated yet. Whilst members of our community are persecuted, marginalised and shamed for who they are, even invalidated and erased, as a community we cannot say we are truly free. We are stronger together and we showed our strength on Saturday! We showed that our community is part of the global community, and we are everywhere. We are your children, we are your siblings, we are your parents, we are your colleagues, we are your friends. We work in schools, hospitals, the blue light services, for the government and in big business. We are the unemployed, we are the retired and we are the unwell. We are society! Thank you Selena Radia and Change Please for opening up on a Saturday to host us for breakfast. Thank you Oakleaf Partnership Limited for sponsoring us. And thank you to all those who took part in the march.
