We've been celebrating #NSSLGlobal's 55th anniversary year with a retro Mr Whippy in the Redhill UK HQ! While it may not serve handmade gelato or provide exotic flavours, the ice-cream van is a tradition in the UK, and people would have had an ice-cream from the van when Apollo 11 landed on the moon in 1969, and we were just starting out supplying maritime radios. Our offices across the globe are celebrating and our engineers out at sea managed to join in. Guys, there's an ice-cream waiting for you when you return from your travels! Our staff are the company's greatest asset and while we work hard, its important to take time out to have fun and relax together. NSSLGlobal is delighted to share that world record-setting double above-knee amputee Hari Budha Magar MBE FRGS has successfully completed the latest climb in his 7 Summits attempt. Having relayed the good news via satellite phone, an exhausted Hari said: “Life is all about adaptation. We have shown once again that nothing is impossible...” The veteran gurkha, 45, and his support team, spent two weeks on the challenging ascent of Denali in Alaska, the highest mountain in North America, before reaching the summit at 20,310ft (6,190m). Because of the depth of soft snow on its lower slopes, Hari had to travel to a US training camp in March ahead of the expedition to learn how to snowshoe efficiently on his adapted prosthetics and the build the other skills and teamwork for this climb. Day 1 went well at IET Satcom with updates from the MOD and views of the years ahead. NSSLGlobal’s Neil Fraser presented about lessons from Ukraine, the changing strategic situation, the provision of critical communications to expeditions at sea and on land and approaches for defence to deliver choice and resilience. Everyone at NSSLGlobal is delighted that Gurkha veteran, disability campaigner and world record-setting mountaineer Hari Budha Magar MBE FRGS has been awarded an MBE in the King’s Birthday Honours for his World Record Everest climb and raising disability awareness.
