We're delighted to support Holtec Britain in completing the first step of the Generic Design Assessment (GDA) for its small modular reactor SMR-300 in record time! The GDA is a voluntary process adopted by technology vendors to de-risk new #nuclear reactor designs for future project stages. Our significant experience from previous GDA’s and substantial understanding of the UK's regulatory landscape resulted in a 10-month completion - 15% quicker than expected and up to 65% faster than any prior GDA. This accomplishment is a significant step towards #Holtec Britain's vision of introducing a fleet of #SMRs across the UK by 2050. These reactors promise to deliver dependable, cost-effective energy, contributing to the nation's #CleanEnergy goals and moving us closer to a #NetZero future. The first operational SMR is on the horizon for the early 2030s, marking a new era of #energy that will power homes, businesses, and industries across the UK. “I hope that, whatever happens, we shall never forget the priceless #heritage that has been handed down to us.” Isn't it remarkable that these words, spoken by one of our founders Basil Mott during his Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) presidential address in 1924, continue to influence our industry today? On 30 July 1900, The Central London #Railway opened, forming part of the world’s first deep level electrified tube system. Basil Mott was the chief #engineer and met his future working partner David Hay on the project. Later, David Anderson joined them to design extensions for what is now known as the Central line. To celebrate its birthday, join us for an exclusive look at the documents and artefacts that tell the story of our predecessors' pioneering contributions to the design and #construction as consulting #engineers on London Underground. Explore the rich heritage that inspires us to continue to push boundaries and advance possibilities today. 👇 https://mottm.ac/3YaFf9C #ThenNowTomorrow #OnThisDay

We’re celebrating another major #HS2 milestone! 🎉 For the first time in the UK, a giant #cantilever structure has been used to build the initial section of the 472m River Tame West Viaducts. This innovative method will be used to build nine viaducts in HS2’s Delta Junction, spanning a total of 6500m. The River Tame West Viaducts are located at the northern tip of the Delta Junction – the triangular section of the railway that enables trains to run between London, Birmingham and the north. They will carry three rail tracks in total, made up of one single track viaduct and one double-track viaduct. Please join us and our partners Balfour Beatty VINCI and SYSTRA UK & Ireland in celebrating this remarkable HS2 (High Speed Two) Ltd achievement. Find out more about the process and continued progress of the project, here. 👇 https://mottm.ac/3ycAP7w SYSTRA #EngineeringExcellence #TransportInfrastructure
