The #IAmMining photo campaign shines a light on women making an impact at every level of mining. Today’s feature is Justine Calleja, a mining engineering lecturer at the University of Wollongong, Australia. Reflecting on her journey, Justine shares: "After 20 years in underground mining as a specialist geotechnical engineer, advancing technology and smart safety systems is a core passion of mine. The Australian mining industry leads globally in safety performance across heavy industries. In 2016, the University of Wollongong teamed up with the NSW Mines Rescue Station to develop a virtual reality scenario, enabling engineering students to sharpen their safety skills and continue the drive to reduce accidents."
