Workplace mental health is the theme of this year's #WorldMentalHealthDay. The design field proves a challenging environment to work in. Last month, f.r.a. were proud sponsors of the Urban Living Festival , held at Mary Ward House, Bloomsbury. Our Directors, Wesley Meyer and Jamie Trippier, had a valuable experience attending the event, gaining industry insights, attending property tours and reconnecting with peers across the sector.⁠ ⁠ As part of our sponsorship, the team designed and hand-built eight freestanding wayfinding signs for the event. It's not often we get to get this 'hands-on' with the fabrication process, but we couldn't resist the opportunity to create a sign to respond to the venue's gorgeous Victorian character. Riverstone Heights is a luxury BTR scheme set on the banks of the picturesque River Lea. The exclusive amenities are designed by the internationally renowned ADC Atelier Ltd, featuring rich textures, bespoke joinery, seating and lighting and abundant planting. ⁠ ⁠ Long Harbour Ltd appointed us to design a wayfinding system that harmonised with the rich interiors. Feature areas are marked by 15mm thick solid brass letters that have carved prismatic faces. This is a classic sign making technique, rarely seen in the modern age, but made possible through our project delivery team’s careful control of process and prototyping. The Sessile redefines luxury rental living through exceptional amenity and interior design, rich with texture, materiality, bold design and authentic vintage statement pieces. ⁠ ⁠ Collaborating with the famed Interior Designer, Linda Boronkay and the client’s branding team, Here., we created a dynamic wayfinding system for the client, Long Harbour Ltd. ⁠ ⁠ The wayfinding was a unifying design element across the feature, amenity and common areas of the project, utilising signs in specialty finished metals, glass and terracotta. The f.r.a. team had a great day at Shrewsbury's Dragon Boat Race, raising money for Severn Hospice. Candleriggs is a new Build to Rent (BTR) development situated in the heart of Glasgow’s Merchant City. After lying derelict for over a decade, the site has been revived into the beating heart of the city centre. The scheme features high-quality city living, with 346 apartments and a range of ground floor retail and commercial units.⁠ ⁠ Collaborating with the client’s brand and interior design team, we developed and delivered a wayfinding scheme to accentuate the project’s vibrate and playful character. To express a modern take on the site’s heritage in candle making, the wayfinding signs use a bespoke orange/metallic acrylic we developed that seems to radiate a warm light. Feature signs use three dimensional prismatic letters to catch reflections and change with the environment. Wayfinding Designer, Danielle Lessio and Account Manager, Phoebe Betts had a fantastic time this week at The Association for Rental Living's 2-day BTR study tour of Manchester. ⁠ ⁠ The tour provided some fantastic examples of what the thriving city has to offer; from some of the most established BTR schemes in the UK, such as Native Residential's Kampus, to more recent developments that have PC'd in the last 12 months, like Pension Insurance Corporation's New Vic. It was also great to visit a couple of schemes that f.r.a. had the pleasure of doing the wayfinding for: Urban Bubble's The Residences (Deansgate Square), as well as the more recent, Cortland at Colliers Yard. ⁠ ⁠ It's always a pleasure to catch up with ARL members and discuss what's next for the industry.
