The Forte team had an especially busy week last week, starting off with RIA Scotland's Rail Summit held at Dynamic Earth in Edinburgh, where we took the opportunity to show off our RIA 'SME Growth in Rail' trophy in our home country! The Summit agenda included Keynote speaker Cabinet Secretary for Transport, Fiona Hyslop MSP, who opened with a thank you to those in the rail supply chain for all that they do to support Scotland’s rail industry. The Cabinet Secretary emphasised innovation and the Scottish Government’s ambition for a larger, stronger rail supply chain helping to grow Scotland’s railway, making it more resilient, reliable, affordable and accessible. Fast-forward to Thursday where we had the pleasure of hosting some of our clients at the Rail Scotland Dinner, where the panel discussions reinforced many of the themes from the Rail Summit, including 'Team Scotland' and how to promote 'more passengers, more trains, more often' and we look forward to working with the sector to help make this possible. Finally, we ended the week with a safety stand-down, followed by the annual golf outing which is possibly the most anticipated event on the Forte calendar. Well done Conner Smith for organising this for the team and to Alastair Campbell for ‘making #safety our forte – always!’

Halfway home after a fabulous flying visit to Glasgow for the Rail Scotland Dinner, wonderfully hosted by Forte Engineering Ltd! Feels great to start dressing up and networking face to face more often again, now the industry calendar is getting back to where it used to be! Now to pop the out of office on shortly and get packing for some sunshine! ☀️

A big Forte welcome to Ava Ferguson who joined us this week as our Apprentice Quantity Surveyor. Ava is working with us as part of Glasgow Caledonian University's 'Construction and the Built Environment (Quantity Surveying)' Graduate Apprenticeship course. Developed in partnership with industry, the Apprenticeship equips apprentices with the theory and practical skills to be able to manage all costs relating to building and civil engineering projects from the initial calculations to the final accounts. Working with our experienced team on our rail projects, we will help Ava develop the technical, legal, analytical and evaluation skills to cost a project, with a focus on enhancing value for money, while still achieving the required client expectations, standards, and quality.
