The #CopernicusClimate Change Service (#C3S) & #CopernicusAtmosphere Monitoring Service (CAMS), implemented by #ECMWF.
About us
The Copernicus Climate Change Service (C3S) and the Copernicus Atmosphere Monitoring Service (CAMS) are two services of the European Union’s Copernicus Earth Observation Programme implemented by the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts on behalf of the European Commission. The Copernicus Climate Change Service (C3S) provides authoritative information about the world’s past, present and future climate. Our freely accessible high-quality data, tools and information help businesses, scientists and policymakers to mitigate and adapt to the effects of climate change. We directly support businesses in climate-sensitive sectors, such as energy, health and insurance, to develop valuable tools for real-world problems. This stimulates other organisations to create their own applications based on our data. climate.copernicus.eu The Copernicus Atmosphere Monitoring Service (CAMS) provides quality-controlled information related to air pollution and health, solar energy, greenhouse gases and climate forcing, across the world. We support policymakers, businesses and citizens by providing atmospheric environmental information, available as analyses and forecasts. We work with a diverse range of industries which use our information products to provide a set of unrivalled services. These include numerous air quality apps, wildfire analysis and solar radiation evaluation among many others. atmosphere.copernicus.eu We invite all businesses, particularly small and medium-sized enterprises, to get in touch to find out how data can be used to create commercially viable products with the aim of protecting and sustaining our environment.

🌍📊 Discover the crucial role of meteorological data rescue operations in enhancing #Copernicus reanalysis. While data rescue might be a lesser-known field, it is vital for filling gaps in our knowledge of past climate, especially in remote areas with scarce weather records. Reanalysis datasets like the #CopernicusClimate Change Service’s #ERA5 use sophisticated computing to resolve these gaps, but accurate historical data makes their work even more precise. With the launch of a joint C3S-World Meteorological Organization data rescue portal, we delve into these fascinating and essential activities in our new article 👉 https://lnkd.in/dbYgMg3A

🔥🌎 Intense wildfires in Siberia have sent massive amounts of smoke across eastern Eurasia and the Arctic Ocean as the #borealwildfire season intensifies. The season's first significant fires started in early June, and by the end of the month, CAMS observed a spike in carbon emissions from the fires in the Eurasian Arctic and other regions of the Arctic Circle. The first half of July has also seen a significant increase in wildfire activity, driven by higher than average temperatures and drier than average conditions. The #CopernicusAtmosphere Monitoring Service is closely monitoring fire emissions, smoke transport, and possible air quality impacts in Eastern Russia, Asia and North America. 🌬️✈️New research reveals how dust plumes near the world's busiest airports impact aircraft in different flight phases. A new paper published today shows how dust plumes near the world’s busiest airports can impact aircraft during different phases of flight. Led by the University of Reading and published in Natural Hazards and Earth System Sciences, this research was co-authored by four scientists from the #CopernicusAtmosphere Monitoring Service (CAMS) and ECMWF, utilizing CAMS data.
