🚨REVEALED: For weeks, we've captivated audiences with this trailer teasing a new drama about the harsh realities of temporary housing. Here's the twist: this isn't drama, it’s real life. At least 34 children have died in temporary accommodation since 2019. If you agree that it's time for us to tune into the human rights under threat in the UK, join us. #HumanRights #UnitedKingdom

While social media is full of violent scenes, across the UK thousands have come out to challenge racism, support their neighbours and take care of each other. Racism has no place in our society. #UKPolitics #Racism #Islamophobia

Have you noticed your feed becoming more violent and shocking? You’re not alone. But can you guess why? 👇🏽 In the UK, racist violence and Islamophobia have spilled onto the streets, following intense and continued scapegoating and dehumanisation of refugees and migrants. Social media platforms have been used as a tool to amplify and escalate xenophobic and Islamophobic discourse. At the core of these platforms are toxic algorithms. These algorithms act to fuel division, disinformation, and hate. Toxic algorithms are design choices that prioritise engagement at all costs in the platforms’ pursuit of ever more data. The Big Tech industry business model is based on ever-present surveillance of our digital lives, seeking to amass ever more of our intimate personal data. While this model has enabled eye-watering profits for Big Tech industry, it has also led to disastrous long-term consequences for human rights, in particular for those most marginalised in society. We must not overlook how Big Tech platforms offer the far-right a powerful venue to incite hate and organise. Big Tech must rewrite the code to protect human rights. Share this if you agree ✊ #UKPolitics #Racism #Islamophobia

Communities across the UK continue to come together to reject hate and violence. We need to be clear: The racist violence we've been seeing on our streets has been paved by an intense period of scapegoating refugees and migrants by politicians and others - in dangerous rhetoric and policy. Hate crimes and violence across the last few days have been reported as 'anti-immigration protests' or ‘pro-British demonstrations’. They should not be labelled as such. What we are seeing are clearly violent racist attacks targeting specific communities. The Government must address the root causes of racism, Islamophobia and xenophobia that plagues our society. #UKPolitics #Racism #Islamophobia

"This new UK government should take urgent action to scrap the protest-related provisions in the Police Act 2022, the Public Order Act 2023 and the relevant Regulations." Liberal Democrat, Irina von Wiese, a lawyer and civil rights activist, contributes a thought piece to Amnesty UK, examining the erosion of protest rights in the UK. She draws parallels between Hong Kong pro-democracy demonstrations and climate protests, highlighting recent UK legislation that severely restricts peaceful assembly. Von Wiese argues for urgent action to restore these fundamental rights and uphold international obligations. Read full article below.

“Prevent is allowing schools to fail in their safeguarding needs.” - Jasmine Jasmine’s son, Zain, was reported to the UK government’s “terrorism” prevention strategy, “Prevent”, for saying he hoped his “school would burn down” during a fire drill. He was 11. Zain, a young Muslim boy, was suffering from anxiety and having trouble adjusting to a new strict school. Zain should have been supported. Instead, he got reported. His friends were asked by the school to make statements against him. It took 3 years and £8000 pounds for Jasmine to have the police delete Zain’s record. But the Home Office still has kept Zain’s in their database. This unfair “Prevent” referral will always follow Zain. We need to stop it from happening to anyone else. Dr Layla Aitlhadj from Prevent Watch UK explains how the UK government’s “terrorism” prevention strategy is targeting children, disproportionately young Muslim boys. ⬇️ In the past 9 months referrals have skyrocketed in schools, silencing those campaigning for the human rights of Palestinians. In targeting children under 15, “Prevent” is incompatible with the UK’s international human rights law obligations to give primary consideration to the “best interests of the child”. “Prevent” is eroding the rights of children and us all: it must be scrapped.
