This is a movement. Not a moment. It's been 2 months since racist violence erupted across UK streets, paved by an intense period of scapegoating refugees and migrants in policy and rhetoric. We need to keep talking about racism, about what and who enables it. In the search for profit at any cost, social media platforms and their toxic algorithms are putting all our safety and rights at risk. Social media is being used as a tool to amplify and incite racist, xenophobic and Islamophobic narratives in the UK, leading to racist violence. These are design choices: Big Tech fueling division, disinformation and hate, all for engagement and profit.

🚨 The repeated Israeli military attacks on UNIFIL’s operations and personnel in southern Lebanon in recent days must be urgently investigated. 🚨 International humanitarian law prohibits intentional targeting of UN peacekeeping missions which are entitled to civilian protection. 🚨 If the Israeli army believes it can attack a UN Security Council-mandate peacekeeping mission after a "warning" that they relocate, the implications for civilians in south Lebanon are extremely worrying.

🚨 The UK holds the highest rate of homelessness among high-income countries 🚨 📈 The annual figures are alarming: homelessness has seen a staggering 12.3% increase this year alone, worsening a crisis that has been building for years. We asked people across the UK how they feel about this growing emergency. Here’s what we found: ➡️ Nearly half of young adults (47%) aged 16-34 are worried that they or someone they know could become homeless within the next 12 months. ➡️ Most UK adults (72%) agree that homelessness is a major problem and requires urgent government action. ➡️ 73% of people believe that having a home is a fundamental human right that must be protected by law. These numbers reflect real fears and lives. Homelessness is not just a social issue—it’s a human crisis. It’s time for immediate action. Without urgent intervention, more lives will be impacted. 🪑 We must push for solutions that ensure everyone in the UK has a safe and secure place to live. This starts by giving people with lived experience of homelessness a seat at the decision-making table.

🚨 CAUTION: if you ticked any of the below, you've fulfilled some of the criteria to be flagged by the UK government's "Prevent" strategy. It's obvious checklist is alarmingly common. This #BlackHistoryMonth we need to reclaim the narrative: wanting to remedy injustice is not “radicalisation”, it is a sign of humanity. When we have the freedom to fight for justice & human rights, history changes for the better. But right now, the UK government’s crackdown on activism, protest and freedom of expression is impacting racialised communities and racial justice activists. “Prevent” targets children, Muslims and neurodivergent people. It is racist and discriminatory. We need to scrap ”Prevent”.

Today marks a day of mourning for those whose loved ones were killed and abducted in Israel by Hamas and other armed groups on 7th October 2023. This day also marks the start of the Israeli forces’ onslaught in Gaza that has killed tens of thousands and triggered an unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe. One year on Amnesty International reiterates its calls for an immediate ceasefire and the unconditional immediate release of civilian hostages held by Hamas and other armed groups and all Palestinians unlawfully detained by Israel. The world must never forget the victims and the anguish of affected families. Humanity must prevail.
