Recently, Kevin Smith released a photo of himself wearing a jersey with History’s iconic “H” on the front, which accompanied an announcement that he would be working with the channel on a new TV show of some sort. There has been no information revealed about the new TV show whatsoever besides the basic fact that it exists, but that hasn’t stopped people from speculating about what it might look like.
For example, Smith is famous for being a fan of superhero comics. In fact, he has been involved with a wide range of superhero comic-related projects over the course of his career, as shown by the fact that he has written for both Marvel and DC Comics at various points in time. Furthermore, he has directed episodes of DC Comics’s TV shows, which is in addition to his role in the reality TV show called Comic Book Men. Based on this, there are some people who suspect that Smith’s new TV show with History will be something to do with superhero comics, which is not an unreasonable guess. After all, superhero comics have existed since the 1930s, meaning that they have had a lot of influence on not just the United States but also other countries situated all around the world. Simply put, superhero comics have a fair amount of history attached to them, which could make for an interesting subject for a TV show of some kind.
With that said, Smith is famous for his passion for movies as well, which is perhaps unsurprising considering his career of choice. However, what is most interesting is that he is rather outspoken about his opinions of movies, meaning that the new TV show with History could be something along that line. Suffice to say that movies are a much broader topic than superhero comics, which in turn, means a much wider range of possibilities for what such a project might look like by the time that it gets released.
Finally, it is worth noting that Smith is working on a horror movie at the moment, which is being called Kilroy Was Here. This is interesting because “Kilroy was here” refers to a well-known phrase as well as the picture of a man peeping over a wall that became associated with it, which saw widespread use during the Second World War. No one is sure how the phrase as well as the associated picture came into existence, with potential explanations ranging from an inspector who used it as a way of reminding himself what he had inspected to a soldier who wanted to tell people that he would make it to a particular location even though he was sick with the flu. Regardless of how it came to be, “Kilroy was here” became an interesting part of the Second World War, which in turn, makes it an excellent choice for a project that will presumably be shown on History. After all, said channel does have something of a fondness for certain subjects related to the Second World War, meaning that something about Kilroy would be well within its fields of interest.
