The Spiderwick Chronicles Trailer Brings Supernatural Children’s Book Series to Life on Roku — Watch

The Roku Channel has released the official trailer for its upcoming series adaptation of Tony DiTerlizzi and Holly Black’s The Spiderwick Chronicles books, which finds Slater slipping into the sinister role of Mulgarath.
Here’s what to expect from the series, per Roku’s official synopsis: The Grace family moves from Brooklyn, New York, to their ancestral home in Henson, Michigan, the Spiderwick Estate. Helen makes the move with her 15-year-old fraternal twin boys, Jared and Simon, and her older daughter, Mallory. Shortly after moving to the Spiderwick Estate Jared discovers a boggart and realizes that magical creatures are real! The only one to believe him is his great-aunt Lucinda who implores Jared to find the pages of her father’s field guide to magical creatures and protect them from the murderous Ogre, Mulgarath.
The series stars Joy Bryant (Parenthood) as Helen Grace, Lyon Daniels (Patriot) as Jared Grace, Noah Cottrell (Punky Brewster) as Simon Grace, Mychala Lee (Truth Be Told) as Mallory Grace, Jack Dylan Grazer (We Are Who We Are) as Thimbletack, Christian Slater (Mr. Robot) as Mulgarath, Alyvia Alyn Lind (Chucky) as Calliope and Charlayne Woodard (Secret Invasion) as Lucinda.
The Spiderwick Chronicles‘ eight-episode first season drops Friday, April 19 on the Roku Channel.

It’s a “second hand” show that they got for probably a decent price after Disney+ dumped it. That may sound harsh, but I’m afraid that unless it’s a big hit, we shouldn’t expect a second season.
It’s probably a one and done. Roku doesn’t have the budget to do a season 2 of this.

I’m sorry if I’m a bit out of the loop but is this the Spiderwick Chronicles TV Series that was supposed to be released on Disney+ and then got shopped elsewhere? Or did Roku commission this all-new TV Series Adaptation of the Novels?
It was supposed to be on Disney +, but Disney scrapped it to save money & Roku rescued it.
Oh so this is THAT Series then. It wasn’t exactly clear in the article and it sort of comes off as if this is an all-new Roku Original TV Series instead of a recycled TV series.
