Doctor Odyssey’s Captain Massey Cozies Up to Returning Guest Star Shania Twain — 2025 FIRST LOOK (Exclusive)

TVLine’s month-long #2025FirstLook series continues with an exclusive sneak peek at Doctor Odyssey, which resumes its maiden voyage on Thursday, March 6 (ABC, 9/8c). The back-half of Season 1 will see the return of horny widow Heather (played by country music icon Shania Twain) as she boards the boat for a second time after making quite the flirtatious splash during Singles Week. And from the looks of it, she still has her sights set on Don Johnson’s Massey. In fact, the pair appears to be closer than ever.
But what does Twain’s encore mean for TVLine’s Fever Dream Theory, which argues that the entire ship is fake and the passengers are occupying the liminal space between life and death? If everyone is in purgatory, how can Heather come and go? How can she be re-entering purgatory? Will she be able to safely exit the ship once again, or will she be another cruise casualty? It’s anybody’s guess!
Additionally, TVLine can reveal a first look at fellow guest star Paris Jackson (American Horror Stories), boarding the boat as a yet-to-be-named passenger donned in a white string bikini. Might we have another bride on board? Another love interest for Tristan? A sister of Max? (The actors do share a last name, after all!) Whatever her identity, an ABC promo shows her suffering from a fainting spell as — you guessed it! — playboy Tristan runs to her rescue.
Regardless of the passenger plotlines, the crew will have plenty to juggle after the midseason finale delivered some game-changing news: Avery is pregnant. The bigger twist? She doesn’t know who the father is after that threesome with Max and Tristan. And we’re sort of hoping it’s Tristan since a recent promo shows Max suffering a medical crisis on board — this man might not be around much longer!

I watched about 4 episodes of this series, hoping it would get better, it didn’t . Horrible, unwatchable. Please go away.

I like this series, some story lines are funny & some are more poignant. It’s entertaining.

That don’t impress me much. Jk, the show isn’t great, but I love that I can’t tell what’s going to happen week to week. Truly a soap opera on the sea. I’m hoping for an alien abduction plot line.
