One of Season 3’s more puzzling unresolved cliffhangers, Sam was kidnapped by his new girlfriend, who turned out to be one of Lex’s hired goons.

When Superman & Lois returns for its fourth and final season on Monday, Oct. 7 (8/7c), we’ll get a taste of what Earth would be like without the Man of Steel.
Following the show’s panel at San Diego Comic-Con, The CW dropped an extended first look at the Superman’s gravity-defying brawl with Bizarro-turned-Doomsday (aka the battle that will lead to his “death”). Hit PLAY on the video above to watch their epic face-off.
The CW previously released a trailer for the show’s long-awaited (and long-dreaded) swan song, which picks up shortly after Superman’s space brawl with the unkillable Doomsday, and it’s fair to say that the criminally underrated comic book adaptation is going out with a bang. Watch the trailer below:
Following a casting shake-up at the end of Season 3, only five actors are returning as series regulars: Tyler Hoechlin as Clark Kent/Superman, Bitsie Tulloch as Lois Lane, Alex Garfin as Jordan Kent, Michael Bishop as Jonathan Kent 2.0 and Michael Cudlitz as Lex Luthor.
The show is also (at least partially) relocating from Smallville to Metropolis, where we’ll encounter a few more iconic DC characters, including Douglas Smith as Daily Planet photographer Jimmy Olsen.
This trailer also confirms that we’ll still see several familiar faces from previous seasons, even if they won’t be appearing in a regular capacity. (We’ve got a breakdown of those returns below.)
Hit PLAY on the videos above to watch the trailer and sneak peek of Superman & Lois‘ final season, then catch a glimpse of (confirmed) returning characters below. When you’re done, drop a comment with your hopes for the show’s swan song.
One of Season 3’s more puzzling unresolved cliffhangers, Sam was kidnapped by his new girlfriend, who turned out to be one of Lex’s hired goons.
John Henry ended Season 3 on a high, first receiving a job offer in Metropolis, then finally doing the deed with Lana. (If only those two had gotten together sooner!)
Wow! October can’t come soon enough!
I hope one day a network/ streamer revives this particular iteration of Superman & Lois, if DC permits. The Arrowverse will be missed on the small screen
If they’re smart and also after seeing the success of My Adventures with Superman they’ll finally learn under the Gunn/Safran regime that having alternative stories that are different to the main ones (“Elseworlds” such as Smallville, Gotham or as you said it the Arrowverse) is actually a blessing in disguise rather than something negative. Distinct iterations will not hold them back but branch out and expand further, occupying simultaneously TV and cinema when one version isn’t currently on. If they can have more than 1 Batman (Pattinson and whoever Gunn picks) then so can do with these in S&L and futher.
Bottom line: it’s possible for a new cinematic live-action Superman AND a live-action TV Superman to co-exist, they’ve done it before with Smallville and Superman Returns while the TV show was off-Season. They should never let go of these Elseworlds story alternatives. Live-action or through animation, not all that isn’t connected to the DCU is bad. And let me tell you the same thing would be if they revived Stargirl as the Elseworlds it was, SO many DC fans would appreciate that. But yeah, S&L like the rest will be missed…if they really let it go.
Couldn’t agree more!
I agree. That said the other side of the argument is that Marvel aired a lot of MCU tv and even when disconnected from the main plots of the saga it still added to MCU fatigue. If people watch super hero shows every week (sometimes a lot of them in the case of the Arrowverse,) they might not get as excited to go see the new DCU movie (or might not see it multiple times.) Again, I disagree with this argument, but I do see where they are coming from.
Honestly,I’ve never been fatigued by a franchise in my life, never expect to be and have always wondered how anybody can be.I’d
rather always have new stuff to watch the same stuff over and over again.
I think a lot of the MCU fatigue is actually due to the decline in quality. Deadpool & Wolverine is great and thus it is thriving. It is MCU, so where’s the fatigue there? I know it’s a different beast than the rest of the MCU, but I think the point still makes sense.
I think My Adventures is helped by being anime; most casual fans already pass by anything other than live action, so it doesn’t really lead to any confusion or fatigue, while still satisfying more dedicated fans.
There’s also less promotion out there, and again not live action…no-one is looking at Jack Quaid and then whoever is playing Clark in the new movie (I don’t remember) and spending a lot of time comparing them.
And who knows if they’ll even do a main universe Batman until they’re done with Pattinson…? Unless I missed something. I can also imagine feeling like they’re getting away with having two Batmens, but not wanting to push their luck having multiple variants of too many of the big names out there.
I agree with Jeff about the fatigue thing, tho personally for me none of the good MCU tv shows made me fatigued. Just the less enjoyable ones. I’m always here for it if it’s good. Quality in quantity (within reason) is still quality.
The weakest part of the show was the writing around the Smallville denizens. Lara’s family was never executed well. Through no fault of the performers. It was all down to weak writing and plots.
.
That said, many of the characters were always going to be in most of the final season’s episodes. Moving them to recurring was just a way to avoid paying them for every ep, even if they were barely in the ep (or trying to shoehorn an appearance in because the actor was getting his full salary that ep, no matter what).
I’m excited this looks so good. But now I’m even more sad that it ends. I wish we could get many more seasons.
There was a teaser trailer a few days ago that said the first official trailer would first be shown on July 27th at San Diego Comic Con. Was this that trailer or will there be another one ?
We’ll see on the 27th, but I imagine this is it. Just because the teaser said it would be shown at SDCC doesn’t mean it would be shown there *first*.
I still find Tyler to be one of the best Superman to don the suit on both the big and small screen!!! I will miss this show.
This is the only reason to watch the CW network. Al the other content is pure crap.
Apparently they rebranded to “CW”. The logo on the bottom right of the video just says “CW” They dropped “The”
It is still called The CW, only the logo dropped “the” for aesthetic reasons. –Mgmt.
Cannot wait for this. Tyler & Bitsie, I’ll watch you in anything now. Fantastic show and performers.
When will it air on Max for subscribers who don’t want to watch on CW live?
Glad to see it end. It’s not a bad show, but having a character run for public office is such a “jump the shark” moment for DC comics based TV series. It a red flag that they ran out of ideas, which is quite noteworthy when you base yourself on the better part of a century of comics.
😁 Hope this goes ahead 🙏💖💗🫀🫶🦸🎺🎷🎻🪗 GIVE THE DISABLED A LIFT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
*give the disabled the lift* In that vain maybe Doomsday doesn’t kill Superman he paralyzes him. turns Clark into a Oracle kind of hero (with shades of what happened to Christopher Reeve). And then his son can take on the mantle of son of Superman like the comics. and brings in this universe’s dreamer played by Nicole maines who writes comics for son of Superman in real life. (I know not going to happen)
No way they can kill off [Spoiler]!!
Going to miss this so much when it’s over. Thank you Tyler Hoechlin for giving me the Superman and Clark Kent portrayal that I’ve wanted in live action for a long time.
Not ready for this. Great show and sucks that it came out during a time when there were major network and studio changes.
Lets go. Epic show and performances.
Chills! It really did go by too fast.
