Rugrats‘ babies are on the crawl.
The cartoon’s reboot, which was previously announced to air on its original network Nickelodeon, will instead show up on Paramount+, the streaming site announced Wednesday. The news broke in conjunction with Paramount+’s participation in the Television Critics Association winter press tour.
The reboot will feature the series’ original voice cast — including E.G. Daily, Nancy Cartwright, Cheryl Chase, Cree Summer and Kath Soucie — and is set to premiere this spring.
“Rugrats is one of the most iconic cartoons recognized by fans around the globe, and this original version is one we are taking great care and pride in creating for a brand-new audience,” Ramsey Naito, President, Nickelodeon Animation said via statement. “Having the voice cast behind these special characters come together is one of the essential pieces to making the show recognizable and we can’t wait to watch this talented group bring them to life again.”
Debuting back in 1991 alongside Doug and Ren & Stimpy as one of the original Nicktoons, Rugrats followed the day-to-day lives of an adventurous band of toddlers, led by diaper-clad Tommy Pickles. It ran until 2004, tallying up a total of 172 episodes. It also inspired a series of big-screen spinoffs: 1998’s The Rugrats Movie, 2000’s Rugrats in Paris and 2003’s Rugrats Go Wild (which also featured characters from fellow Nickelodeon cartoon The Wild Thornberries).
Also on Wednesday, Paramount+ (currently known as CBS All Access) announced that live-action versions of Dora the Explorer and The Fairly OddParents are also in the works at the streamer.

The preview of the animated CGI style looks AWFUL! What. Did. They. Do. To. Rugrats? It’s great they have the original voice cast but that does no good behind shoddy computer animation. Just draw it!
I like it.
Please. Don’t. “Speak”. Like. This. Anymore. It’s r-e-a-l-l-y annoying
I rather the show be about the next generation instead of a retelling
Hardly anyone would watch it. The show is for young children.
I loved rugrats for years but they kinda look creepy
I saw the new CGI look and I don’t hate it. I actually think it’s cute. I’m sure kids will love it.
So glad to be a 90s generation kid. The animation these days are disgusting compared lol. I will def watch just for the kid that’s still on me but def hate this CG crap
I’m more curious as to when/if Dil and Kimi will show up. I assumed they would just start the reboot off with them included, but I guess they’ll be held off for now?
One thing. I noticed Suzie is younger now. I remember her being around the same age as Angelica in the original. Not a complaint but just an observation.
She was actually the same age as Chuckie- 2yrs Angelica was a year older
