Duquesne fell to 0-2 on the young season after a 75-68 loss to Princeton on Friday night at Cure Insurance Arena.

Princeton used a 12-3 run in the final minutes to secure the victory.

“It’s tough. It slipped away from us,” Duquesne coach Dru Joyce III told reporters after the game. “I thought we dominated for a large portion of that game. To not finish it, that’s a hurdle we have to climb. We’ll be back.”

Duquesne led 28-25 at halftime and extended the advantage to 42-31 with just over 13 minutes remaining. But the Tigers used an eight-point run to close the gap to 42-38.

Dalen Davis and Caden Pierce each had 17 points for Princeton (2-0).

Kareem Rozier had 14 points to lead the Dukes. Jahsean Corbett had 13 points and nine rebounds, and David Dixon added 11 points.

“It has not been the easiest of weeks,” Joyce III said of Monday’s 77-72 loss to Lipscomb. “We’ve been challenged by two really good teams that are picked to win their league. Within that, you gain some scars, you gain some resilience. You can build, too. At the end of the day everyone feels a lot better about a win than a loss, but there is an opportunity to learn and grow from it.”
