1) Nina Earl Was a College Athlete


Nina Earl has been an athlete almost all her life. Growing up with three brothers, Earl was always exposed to the world of sports. During her time in high school, the California-born played basketball and also ran track and field. Despite being excellent in both sports she played, Earl decided that basketball was her calling. She received an athletic scholarship to play basketball for UCLA, where she played as a forward. Despite being a forward, Earl was often regarded as one of the fastest players on the court. This is something that she shares in common with Westbrook as he too was regarded as one of the fastest and most explosive players in the NBA at the peak of his career.




2) Nina Earl Met Russell Westbrook at UCLA


Much like Nina, her husband Russell Westbrook also attended UCLA through an athletic scholarship. Westbrook was part of UCLA's basketball team from 2006 to 2008. In 2007, he met Nina and the two started to date shortly after that. Earl has mentioned that the start of her relationship was extremely fun and that the two used to play a lot of basketball together. She even claimed that she would often beat Westbrook on the court, but, Russell Westbrook himself has not made any comments on the situation so we'll have to take Earl's word for it.


3) Nina Earl Is a Licensed Therapist


While Westbrook went on to make a name for himself in the NBA, Earl decided to stick to the books and got herself a Bachelor's degree in psychology along with a minor in English. Shortly afterward, Earl decided to pursue a Master's Degree in clinical psychology and is now a licensed therapist. In the past Westbrook has mentioned that Earl is a particularly smart individual. Furthermore, he mentioned that it is easy for him to cope with her because she knows what she wants in life.



4) Westbrook Gave Nina Earl a $700,000 Engagement Ring


Back when the pair got engaged in 2014, Russell Westbrook actually gifted Nina Earl a $700,000 engagement ring which was made by Jason of Beverly Hills. For those of you who don't know, Jason is famous for making jewelry for the biggest celebrities in America. After getting the ring, Nina took to Instagram to announce her engagement to Russell Westbrook, and a decade later the two share three children together.

5) Nina Earl Is Related to a Football Legend


As per Nina Earl's UCLA bio, she is related to Bruins and Seahawks legend, Kenny Easley. Easley, who is Nina's cousin has been recognized as a three-time All-American and also won the 1984 Defensive Player of the Year. From the looks of it, sports does run riot in the Earl household.
