Union minister Nitin Gadkari announced that the Greenfield Corridor between Bengaluru and Chennai and the Bengaluru Satellite Township Ring Road (STRR) project will be inaugurated by December 2024, with the aim of reducing Bengaluru's traffic congestion.

STRR project

The STRR project, valued at Rs 17,000 crore, is expected to be completed a year ahead of schedule and will connect the peripheries of Bengaluru, potentially reducing traffic within the city by 30%.

Bengaluru-Chennai

The Bengaluru-Chennai greenfield corridor, worth Rs 17,930 crore, was announced in 2018 and has been in development for six years. Gadkari stated that it will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and will reduce travel time between the two cities to just two hours.
