Sangh Fronts Mobilise Cadre To Engineer BJP Victory
Nagpur: With 48 hours to go for assembly elections, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and its affiliated organisations have launched a full-fledged campaign to rally voter support for BJP. While officially distancing itself from political activities, RSS' vast network of over 60 organisations is reportedly mobilising resources to consolidate Hindu votes, sources revealed.
The renewed push comes in wake of BJP's poor performance in the May Lok Sabha elections, where the party fell short of the majority mark, primarily due to a lack of support from minority voters. Learning from this setback, the Sangh redoubled its efforts, aiming to ensure BJP regains control in the state assembly.
Under the banner of "Sajag Raho" (Be Vigilant, Be Awake), Sangh's organisations are working to counter opposition strategies perceived as dividing the Hindu vote along caste and community lines. This initiative seeks to unite Hindu voters while addressing concerns over issues such as ‘love jihad', ‘vote jihad', religious conversions, and societal divisions.
Prominent among these groups is Lok Jagran Manch comprising senior citizens who are distributing pamphlets urging citizens to vote wisely. The messages, though uncredited, draw parallels with BJP's narrative of safeguarding religious identity and cultural heritage. These pamphlets reference the party's narrow defeat in Malegaon Central during the Dhule Lok Sabha elections, highlighting the need for unified voting to avoid similar outcomes.
Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP), a key Sangh affiliate, has ramped up efforts, organising door-to-door campaigns and meetings to promote 100% voter turnout. Vidarbha VHP chief Govind Shende confirmed a series of Hindu sammelans and spiritual gatherings aimed at motivating people to cast their votes. The campaign has explicitly addressed statements made by Opposition leaders, framing them as divisive and harmful to
Hindu unity.
RSS's Official Stand: Civil Effort, Not Political
While reports of Sangh-backed voter outreach are widespread, a senior RSS functionary denied direct involvement. "These activities are being undertaken by civil societies comprising swayamsevaks. They are working independently to raise voter awareness and promote their right to vote," he told TOI, distancing RSS and its fronts from any explicit political messaging.
As the Sangh gears up to celebrate its centenary next year, the stakes for the BJP-led Mahayuti are high. Winning this election is seen as crucial for furthering long-standing ideological agendas and ensuring a BJP-led govt remains at the helm in Maharashtra during this milestone moment. With just two days to go, battle lines are drawn, and the saffron brigade seems to be banking heavily on its grassroots network to secure an edge in the high-stakes contest.
Message Resonates With Core Hindu Issues
The pamphlets being circulated by Lok Jagran Manch pose provocative questions to voters, emphasising themes central to the BJP's campaign:
* Who are those who create divisions in society, insult deities, saints, and great personalities? Identify them.
* Let's protect Maharashtra's unity and interests, beyond caste, sect, language, or ideology.
* Let us elect a govt that curbs land jihad, love jihad, religious conversions, stone-pelting, riots, corruption, and harassment of women.
* Let's remember the mantra "Batenge to Katenge" (Divided we fall) and learn from the results of Dhule Lok Sabha constituency.
* Maharashtra is the pride of our nation & Vidarbha is its honour. Let us uphold this dignity.
* Identify those who spread misunderstandings about the Constitution, reservations, Scheduled Castes, and Tribes.
* Teach a good lesson to those who abandon Indian ideology and their identity.
* Understand the difference between those who uplift India's honour globally and those who tarnish its reputation.
