Nagpur University shines in youth fest, clinches 8 awards
Nagpur: The team from Nagpur University emerged victorious at the State Inter-University Youth Festival ‘Indradhanushya', securing 8 awards. The festival, held from November 7 to 11, at Dr Panjabrao Deshmukh Agricultural University in Akola, saw the university excel in multiple categories, including literary arts, debate, dance, and theatre.
In the literary arts category, the university team clinched the overall first place. Anushka Nag, Nirmit Langde, and Prathamesh Lanjewar won the first prize in the quiz competition, while Mehndi Sheikh and Vishal Rajkumar Kharswal's team bagged the first place in the debate competition. Mehndi Sheikh also earned the third prize in the elocution competition.
In cultural events, Kalyani Chikwalwar secured the first prize in Indian classical dance, while the university's group singing team won the second prize. The team included Indrani Indurkar, Radha Thengdi, Tejaswini Khodatkar, Ayushi Deshmukh, Nidhi Ingole, Nidhi Ranade, Sujoy Deolkar, and Chetan Nagose. The skit (comedy) team, comprising Mohit Sarkar, Shifa Ansari, Indrani Indurkar, Chirag Shukla, Tanya Pandit, Shashank Rahangadale, and Yugalhans Makram, secured the third prize.
In stage design, Pranay Naitam won the third prize, while Yash Wankhede claimed the second prize in set design. In theatre, Jay Gala was the writer, while Sarang Gupta was the director.
Acting Vice Chancellor of Nagpur University Prashant Bokare congratulated the winners and stressed the importance of planning for even greater success in future festivals. He emphasised the need for modern resources and closer collaboration with partners to enhance participation and success in upcoming events. He also thanked the students for bringing honour to the university and praised the support provided by Raju Hiwase, the state-appointed observer during the festival.

The awards ceremony took place at the Jamnalal Bajaj Administrative Building, where Bokare addressed the gathering and highlighted the need for better preparation and representation in future youth festivals.
Acting Pro-Vice Chancellor Rajendra Kakade and Hiwase also offered their congratulations and discussed ways to further improve student participation in future competitions.
The event was moderated by director of the student development department, Vijay Khandal, and the vote of thanks was delivered by cultural coordinator, Prakash Shukla.
NU's winter exam as per NEP from Dec 7
Nagpur University's winter 2024 examinations in accordance with the National Education Policy (NEP) shall commence from December 7. The assessments shall encompass BCom semester 1 and BSc semester 1 as conveyed by Dr Sanjay Kavishwar, the acting director of the Examination and Evaluation Board.
