Now, deep cleaning in all 24 wards every Sat
Mumbai: In a meeting of all 24 ward officers on Thursday, municipal commissioner I S Chahal asked them to pull up their socks while implementing the Deep Cleaning Drive in their respective wards. It has also been decided to roll out the drive every Saturday in each of the 24 wards and not just in one civic zone, like is the case now.
Civic officers were told that CM Eknath Shinde, who initiated the drive and whose pet project this has been, is not very happy with the progress of the drive and is of the view that the real difference on ground is yet to be seen.

Apart from arterial roads, the BMC chief has asked officers to focus on cleaning and washing bylanes and slum areas.
“The drive will be implemented between 7am-11am every Saturday, and would be spread across all 24 wards and not just specific areas in the ward. The CM has been showcasing a lot of enthusiasm by himself participating in the drive, but if the same enthusiasm is not shown by the BMC staff, the results of the drive will not reach all corners of the city as required,” said a civic official adding that it has been decided to increase public participation while implementing this drive.
