Sri Ram Sena to observe Dattamala Abhiyana from Nov 4
Mangaluru: The 21st annual Dattamala campaign for the complete liberation of Datta Peeta, organised by Sri Ram Sene - Karnataka, will be held from Nov 4 to 10.
According to Sri Rama Sene state general secretary Anand Adyar, on Nov 4, there will be a ‘maaladhaarane' ceremony across the state, followed by Datta Deepotsava on Nov 7, ‘Datt Padi Sangraha' on Nov 9, and a grand procession, religious meeting, Sri Satya Datta Vrata, and Sri Datta Homa at Datta Peeta on Nov 10. The event will be attended by Sri Siddalinga Swamiji of Karuneshwar Mutt, Vivek Chintamani Maharaj from Ganagapur Kambalagiri, Sri Rama Sene national president Pramod Muthalik, MLC CTRavi, and others, he said.
"We demand that the govt relocate Islamic symbols from Datta Peeta to the original Dargah. Further, only Hindu priests should be appointed to Datta Peeta and a Mahaprasad system should be established. We also demand accommodation facilities for devotees and starting bus services from Ganagapur to Datta Peeta," he told reporters here.
It is expected that more than 10,000 ‘maaladhaaris', devotees who wear religious symbols during ‘maaladhaarane', will arrive from various parts of the state. At 10pm on Nov 9, 1,300 maaladhaaris from Dakshina Kannada will depart from Kadri Maidan. The Datta Deepotsav in Mangaluru will be held on Nov 7 at the Lakshmi Narayana Temple near PVS junction, he added.
Sri Rama Sene division president Madhusudan Urvastore, district president Arun Kadri, district vice president Harish Bokkapatna, district general secretary Yogesh Farangipete, district spokesperson Ullas, and city vice president Mohan Padangadi were present.
