Lucknow: Connected with seven destinations, especially metropolitan cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, and Bengaluru, the Maharishi Valmiki Ayodhya airport in Ayodhya has catered to over 5.16 lakh passengers in 194 days since its commissioning.
The airport started operations on Dec 30, 2023, after its inauguration by
Prime Minister Narendra Modi a few weeks before Ram Lalla’s consecration ceremony.
An average of 2,664 passengers have travelled via airport in the last 194 days.
According to the office of the director of Ayodhya airport, total 2,64,971 passengers arrived at the newly commissioned airport, and 2,51,804 departed to various destinations till July 11.
The highest arrival of 49,799 passengers was recorded in March, while the highest departure of 50,614 passengers was registered in June.
The airport connects seven destinations including Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Bengaluru, Ahmedabad and Dehradun. It operates 14 flights in 24 hours with its day and night landing and take-off facilities.
“Besides devotees, there are many passengers who live in adjoining districts like Gonda, Basti, Sultanpur, and Azamgarh and prefer to land at Ayodhya airport instead of Lucknow. In coming months, we expect more passenger inflow once the international operations starts,” said an official of the Airport Authority of India (AAI).
