Margao: BJPCurchorem MLA Nilesh Cabral on Sunday voiced his disappointment over what he said was the failure of chief minister Pramod Sawant in fulfilling the assurance he gave him a year ago of completing all pending projects in the Curchorem constituency.
“Several projects were initiated by me in the Curchorem constituency when I was the minister — the KTC bus stand, swimming pool, handloom centre, etc. All these projects are stalled. A year passed since chief minister Pramod Sawant publicly told me ‘rodpachi garaz na’ and 'bhivpachi garaz na' as he promised that all pending projects would be taken up soon. Only two more years are left for the next election and yet nothing has happened so far,” Cabral said at the induction of the new president of the Curchorem mandal.
Cabral was referring to a statement made by Sawant during the inauguration of the upgraded Cacora community health centre in Jan last year. Publicly appreciating Cabral’s “sacrifice” of quitting his ministerial berth, Sawant had reassured Cabral that his sacrifice would be duly acknowledged by the party. The CM had said all the pending projects of Curchorem would be completed within the next three years.
Sawant said that the projects were stalled for want of funds but as the govt’s financial position had since significantly improved, all the projects of Curchorem constituency would soon be fast-tracked.
Cabral resigned from the Sawant cabinet to allow the party to accommodate Aleixo Sequeira, who switched to BJP from Congress.
