CHENNAI: A chief minister must not be elected based on their birth, and the state must be ruled by leaders with ideologies, VCK deputy general secretary and Voice of Commons founder Aadhav Arjuna said on Friday.
Speaking at a function to release a book on the architects of the Constitution B R Ambedkar in Chennai, Arjuna said dynastic politics must be abolished in 2026. Tamil Nadu goes to assembly polls in 2026.
He said the BJP came to power at the Centre in 2014 targeting the opposition on corruption and dynastic politics. "Until now, none could defeat the BJP," he said.
He said BJP's vote share in Tamil Nadu is not more than 2%. He urged actor and TVK president Vijay to expose the dynastic politics of the ruling party and its corrupt practices.
He pointed out that a dalit leader won 2024 Lok Sabha polls from Faizabad general constituency in Uttar Pradesh and regretted that not even a single dalit candidate was fielded in a general constituency in Tamil Nadu.
"There are 1.4 crore dalit people in the state and if dalit leaders insist on sharing power, they say it is wrong. Dravidian philosophy says everyone is equal. Tamil nationalism also says so. But the problem here is vote bank politics is based on caste lines,” he said.

“We are yet to resolve the Vengavayal incident (where miscreants dumped human faeces into an overhead tank that supplies water to scheduled caste people) because of election of MLAs and ministers based on caste lines. How can a party with 25% vote share claim to the major political party. Coalition govt must be formed in Tamil Nadu. If we question dynastic politics, we are branded as sanghis. Tamil Nadu people have decided to take a new political path," he said.
