Ahmedabad: The All-India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has introduced changes to the approval process for BBA-BCA courses, categorising them as ‘technical'. So, existing and new institutions are now required to seek approval from AICTE, rather than universities. In its first year overseeing these programmes, the council has taken a liberal approach, approving more than 30 BBA-BCA colleges affiliated to GTU in Gujarat.
Varsities are gearing up to accept applications for new colleges in response to the council's announcement. Experts believe that AICTE's accommodating stance has encouraged many institutions to offer BBA-BCA programmes. However, the surge in approvals has raised concerns among experts as most of the newly approved colleges this year struggled to fill even 50% of their seats. Despite this, invitations for new BBA-BCA college approvals continue to be extended. TNN
