AGRA: Three police officers have been suspended after a video purportedly showing an alleged sharpshooter from the
Lawrence Bishnoi gang in police custody surfaced on social media, where he claimed his police encounter was staged. Arrested in Mathura after a joint action by the Delhi Police special cell and Mathura Police on Thursday,
Yogesh Kumar alias Raju, 26, was seen speaking to media crews while in custody at the Refinery police station.
In the video, Yogesh said, "The encounter was fake. They staged it to cover up… NCP leader Baba Siddiqui wasn't a good man. He had MCOCA cases against him and was connected to Dawood Ibrahim, the man behind the 1993 Mumbai bomb blasts." Yogesh, who identified himself as part of the Hashim Baba syndicate, which operates with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, bragged, "Our gang has over 100 members and connections across the world, including in the US."
Without specifying a reason for the action, Mathura SSP Shailesh Pandey said sub-inspector Ram Sanehi, head constable Vipin Kumar, and constable Sanjay Yadav have been suspended. A resident of Budaun district, Yogesh faces seven criminal cases, including charges of murder, rioting, and possession of illegal firearms in Kasganj, Mathura, Budaun, and Delhi.
Yogesh was nabbed after he was shot in the leg in a police encounter. He was wanted for the killing of Afghan-origin Nadir Shah, 35, outside his gym in South Delhi on Sept 12. Before Yogesh's arrest, eight others were already in custody for the crime, including Akash Yadav, Nitalesh Tiwari, Vishal Verma, Naveen Baliyan, Mohammed Sajid, Pankaj Kumar, Sachin Yadav, and shooter Madhur Motta.
